40 sedan bridge forum

Years ago, there was a 400db with a retro hardtop and a full glass windshields on yachtworld. I'm sure it served a purpose for the owner, but it killed the look of the boat. Very Frankenstein ish......

I just found this one for sale with a hard top. I would love to see a pictures showing the side view and where all the struts are mounted. From what I can see, it is not too bad looking.

If you look closely to the helm pictures you can see the aluminum tubes on the dash and arch, etc.

Yeh, I can see some of it...but not too much. I do spy an AC vent at the helm, which I'm sure was the reason for the hardtop. Now, all it needs is a bigger genny to supply power.

Love to see this if you do it. How are you putting your Spark on your swim platform?
I'll post some photos if the project comes to fruition. My platform is an old TNT hydraulic lowering system. Pain to keep maintained, but pretty cool and easy to launch. It even has a remote so I can launch sitting on the ski. I did see a pivoting ramp style davit somewhere that looked like a much less expensive method, and they did have the Spark on it. The Spark works well as its under 500lb (I think the only ski even close).

Thank-you! I think that one looks pretty good. I agree, if not done right, it will have a Frankenstein effect and ruin the sleek lines of the boat. I still see a hard top with canvas sides as the best way to minimize the visual effects on the boats lines.

I noticed he tied it into the radar arch and then added a support to the arc. Looks clean.

So I asked my marina for a quote on replacing my engine anodes. I already bought them so no parts. I arrive at the boat tonight and find they were already working on the boat. Needless to say I am a little upset. Especially since they didn’t finish the job and I think they screwed up one brass cap.
It will be an interesting conversation in the morning.

I head to the marina to check fluid levels and can’t get my Salon AC to cycle on.
The pump has water coming out both ports.
The forward berth AC unit is getting cold and cooling fine. It felt warm to the touch when after it ran for a few mins. The unit never cycled on. The inrush current never jumped. I only had the fan cycling air. Any idea where to start. My boat never threw a code on the SMX. TIA!

So my forward air bought the farm over the weekend. Nothing lighting up at all on the old SMXII control panel. I did not do any voltage checks on the control box. In all fairness, I could have been a little more pro-active in cleaning the lint/dust out of the intake filter. Kind of out of sight out of mind under the bed. I'm not sure if it's the thermostat control panel or mother board to the unit, so bought both, as either one would have been about the same price as a service call. This upgrades me to a touch screen thermostat with additional functions that I already have added to the salon unit.
Has anyone dealt with replacing the mother board on their cruiseair? Supposed to be pretty much plug and play. Is there anything else with this system that would reflect no power what so ever to the thermostat?

You have 2 identical display units. Try swapping with the salon and see if the problem tracks with the display. You might get lucky, and it's just the SMX II itself. I just had my SMX control panel repaired (flight systems).

Thanks Paul. I've read that flight systems will do that. I thought about that first... My salon at some point had been upgraded to an SMXir, so when it went out, the new touch screen micro air thermostat was a direct plug in with a Cat 5 looking 8 pin cable. The old SMX II in the vberth has a 4 pin flat connector. Part of this is timeliness on getting it back up and running for guests coming in 2 weeks. I could have replaced what I had, but do like the newer touch screen controller for another $75 that would require updating both anyway. I just didn't know if a bad capacitor or something might cause that same issue.

Wait just a damn minute here, I'm shopping 40 Db's. I'm thinkin, half a loop and bring her home on her own bottom.
Doesn't Todd have a couple more years with kids sports stuff any how?
Haha, I'm thinking celebrity deathmatch.....you may have the odds!

Pics are from Saturday.

Don't go getting too excited Prosideus..... TechMItch also had me send him all sorts of pics of my 340 also and then ghosted out on me.
Didn't even give a courtesy reply after I followed up.

Could anyone tell me where the blowers are located on my 98 400db ? I suspect the motors are behind the side vents of the boat. If that be the case how in the world does one get to them ? When the bilge blower switch is turn on, I get a solid green light. Neither of the two bilge blower breakers are tripped off. It's weird because both motors seemingly went down at the same time.
