A cummins dealer in northern Florida.Where did you get aftercooler cores for QSC's?
It has been in saltwater at times.Is or was it a salt boat?
On our 44DB there was just a 110volt dual outlet on the bulkhead behind and to starboard of the machine under the stairs to the galley. The unit was plumbed to its own thru hull fitting aft of the galley. It had its own vent as well to starboard aft of the galley. I love our stacked unit in the 506 as they are apartment sized and will do a decent load. The combo unit on the 44DB was ok for a few rags and maybe small loads of clothes but no use at all for linens. I often thought I would remove it from the boat to make room for more storage actually.We are tossing around the idea of adding a washer/dryer next season. For anyone who has one, a few questions:
If you have any pictures, it would be most helpful - can PM me or post them here.
- where is the electrical box installed (exactly)? I'm guessing the wiring is there, I just need to find the ends;
- where does it drain? I'm thinking I might be able to connect to the galley sink drain, which goes directly overboard;
- is it vented to the outside? if so, tie into an existing vent or a separate (new to me) one?
- anything we should watch out for or consider on this project?
Thanks
They do, they are held on with christmas tree fasteners I'm pretty sure.Does anyone know if the panels on-the aft deck ceiling pull down?
Does anyone know if the panels on-the aft deck ceiling pull down?
What do you get access to once removed?Yes, that’s true. They do use those Christmas tree style fasteners. Use a wide paint scraper or similar to lever it away.
Had to remove mine when it filled with water that was leaking from the flybridge table base mount screws. Lesson learnt ..!
I am mounting a camera on the ceiling and running the wiring.What do you get access to once removed?
I did too. Thought about it but never tried removing the panel when I installed a camera and a rear flood light. Probably would have made my life easier. . Snap a pic once you get it off. Curious how much access you get in there.I am mounting a camera on the ceiling and running the wiring.

Carpe Diem
Is it the Splendide brand you have on your boat?Mine was delivered with the Washer/Dryer Combo installed. Been struggling with a similar dilemma remove it and add some refrigeration or leave it.
I’ll probably leave it as it does come in handy for long stays and for washing the Sunbrella covers.
As for the comment regarding efficiency, the standard size combo delivered in our 44DB has a similar wash load weight spec as the combo we have at home which we have no problems with.
Yes. (edited) Had a Candy in my last boat - was a similar size and worked well too.Is it the Splendide brand you have on your boat?
Could be worse.. As Forrest Gump famously said, hauling out is like a box of chocolates…Sad day today, hauled out for winter.when I saw the boat on stands I could see the scum line and I will be shopping for 300 lbs of lead over the winter.
I just added 12 bars @26.2lbs ea 315lbs lead and I am going to add 3 more bars.Sad day today, hauled out for winter.when I saw the boat on stands I could see the scum line and I will be shopping for 300 lbs of lead over the winter.
Any of you go from a similar sized SunDancer and regret the move? Looked at a 44DB and its incredible, but would we miss the "back yard" of the DA? We do a lot of anchoring with friends and most of that time is spent in the back of the boat, often with 10+ people hanging out back there as the kids swim. I know thats not possible with the DB but the rest of the boat is just perfect, incredible layout, more sleeping areas and the bridge. Always loved bridge boats.
All of that said, the 50/52DA looks interesting.....
