420/44 DB Owners Club

I want to go with 1242XSV keyed and I am fine with cutting the fiberglass and etc. I got the 1242 into the 380 and it was wonderful to use. I did trim the upper corners. It was fun tossing out the old steam powered Raymarine with 1/16th in resolution...!

Seems like Garmin is pushing the touchscreen stuff but I still like the dial and the buttons.

Trying to find a Boat Show special...

Cheers!

Market insanity. Guy wants 325k for an 04 that is not a cream puff. I may be cheap but that price is just crazy. Private sale too!
I guess the buyer can always tap into that extra home equity the 25%+ property price increases have delivered over the past 12 months.. Guess at the end of the day it’s all relative..

Also comes with zero einsenglass so there is another 12-15k right there. And that's if everything else is perfect. Boat has been for sale for several months. Stubborn but oh well.

Maybe the owner wants to buy a house. :)

The buyer might be one of those idiots who rode 10,000 shares of AMC from 14 all the way to 72 without taking any profits. Whats AMC at now? I don't even want to look......

And then lost 80% on PROG, then 50% on DARE, 90% on CEI. Yea, my track record is not pretty.

I am sure you are correct @bajturner. My 06 44DB had the 500s and I know of several 05's that have the 480CE. I second that if the heads have been upgraded and the props tuned properly you will have essentially the the same boat. I have worked on several 04 thru 08 SDs and DBs and found very few differences in the boats save the engines. Unless I was dead set on having a 'newer' boat, I would not hesitate to buy a 420 over a 44DB if the extra 50 to 80 grand was a game killer for me.
On the rear bench topic, I wonder if the molds even exist anymore, was it something that Sea Ray made inhouse or was that farmed out to a contractor? Some digging at Sea Ray might pay off.

Checked with SeaRay when we brought our 44DB in 2012. The rear cockpit seat molds are gone. Would like the extra storage under that bench seat but the light weight folding chairs we use are fine.

The bench seat is one of those things, some like it some don’t. I don’t, it’s only good for storage but my wife won’t let me take it out. I don’t want to sit outside looking at a glass door I’d rather have a couple of nice deck chairs. You guys know some battles are just not worth having

I was same when we had ours. Good storage, but terrible seating. Plus the cockpit seems so much bigger without it…..

I’m in the same situation. I want it gone but the wife wants it to stay .. Happy wife happy life …

Introducing myself here on this thread. I have been on the 380 forum for 4 1/2 years and we sold the 380 this fall.

We thought we would be boatless but "Life's Good" came to us in a divine intervention. She never made it to the market.

She has been ours for 2 whole days now. We are bringing the boat from Gig Harbor to home in La Conner. We have a decent weather window with low winds and maybe some sun peeking out in the afternoons. We could have done the trip in one day but what is the fun in that. We have an all weather boat and we are loving it.

The boat is immaculate and is a tribute to LG111, the previous owner. We are in contact so questions are being answered.

I read through the entire forum a week or so ago. Thanks for the info!

Cheers
Bruce, congrats on the purchase, Mark told me the cliff notes version of how you came to the deal. I love it wnen a plan comes together. We had two boat deals happen as happy chance meetings as well, they are the best kind. I know you will have many happy days ahead with the 44DB.

Thanks CD, Mark turned over a very well cared for boat. We are thrilled. The trip home was really nice and we are ready to do more winter weather cruises.

The cool thing about the boat is it is THE boat that sparked us to look for a sedan bridge. Not this kind of boat but THIS boat. We are in heaven! It really was Divine intervention.

I'll give you a shout when I am ready to hook up the remote.

Cheers!

Any one else here have a Webasto diesel heater on the fly?

We have one and it really get the flybridge warm and nice for winter cruising. Once we are moving though, it seems to have the heat pulled out of the heater via a venturi effect on the exhaust sucking the airflow out.

Is there supposed to be a diffuser covering the exhaust?

It is super nice getting the helm warm before launch but it is meager once running. Would love a little help with some expertise.

Cheers!

Have inquired about this setup vs installing an ac heat pump on the bridge. Do you mind posting a few picks and more details on the setup. Though this is not a common setup there are quite a few technical folks here that may have some ideas.

Does anyone know the make and model of the pedestals used on the bridge seats on the 44DB? I loved the quality of them on mine. I just installed some Atwood swivel pedestals under my new helm chairs and am not happy with the quality. The ones used on the Sea Ray helm chairs were quite sturdy as I remember.
Thanks

They are Gaerlick. Would have to run down to the boat to see the model. I was going to replace the piston on my 380 and just the piston was $450.

Thanks Bruce, I just needed the make, I will not need the height adjustable version. That should help with the cost. I know they won't be inexpensive.
Cheers

Just perused the offerings from Gaerlick, The complete assy used on the 44 retails for $1700! The quality is awsome but that would blow the fun ticket supply at the moment. There are better ones they offer than the Wise pedestals I bought so may exchange them if I can't live with the ones I have.
