Spent the weekend at Angel Island and Sausalito. Came across my new boat while running around! View attachment 91800 View attachment 91801 View attachment 91802

That looks like Attessa III. 220 feet. One of Dennis Washington's boats. It is usually in Cabo San Lucas. I had the pleasure of flying his BBJ for him a few years ago. He has a number of beautiful yachts.

Here is a picture of her big sister, Attessa IV - 330'. Dennis has 7 boats and 7 jets. He and Phyllis were very nice people.

It is Attessa III....Good call! Had to look it up and what a story Dennis has. All this started with a $30K loan.

Can anyone recommend where to get a mesh window screen made for the front windshield?
Gioia Sails in NJ was the OEM fabricator (I believe). Mine has a tag on it from them, they definitely have the template and it fits like a glove.

Small correction, I believe it is
Gioia Sails South in Palm Coast, FL

Not the same for some reason though the name suggests it is.

Same people, same family. Either way, they'll get it for you - probably just have to add the snaps on the outside and you'll be good to go!

Myself and at least one other member here found NJ completely unresponsive while FL location was great.
YMMV

Well I thought that too but I checked the overflow and it comes out the starboard side, the top is sealed better than new now so it is not leaking out the top. I cleaned it all up and though that was it, cleaned the switch and made sure it was working, sucked out the leaked water and ran again for another hour and had 2 inches of water again.... Go down there and cannot find a trail where it is coming from. I had so much crap stored in the coffin for the trip I didn't want to go any further until I got back. Unpacked the coffin thinking I would find the smoking gun at the water manifold or the pump and nothing.... Been so busy with stuff around the house that I have not had time to take her back out and run her in the ocean with everyhting open so i can crawl down there and see if I can find the smoking gun.
I’m having the same problem and now believe it’s possibly a bad check valve on the bilge pump as there is no evidence of any water trail.

Hi All, can anyone confirm the size of the chain for the windlass? I have a chain/rope setup right now, and the connection from chain to rope is pretty frayed - causing an almost guaranteed jam in the windlass every time I'm anchored, which is getting old to say the least. I'm going to convert to all chain, which seems more appropriate for the boat anyway. I see the existing chain is marked G4 - but I've seen conflicting reports that it's either 1/4" or 3/8" chain. Can anyone confirm before I buy a 250' bucket of the wrong size?? Thanks!

I can't confirm 100% but, it's more than likely 5/16 like mine. You can find the correct size stamped on the windlass gypsy.

G4 is the galvinizing number the chain size is 5/16. I put 200 feet in mine and removed the rope.

Well... I did some more investigating and I hadn't posted this yet but I think you are right. I waited to test the last water that showed up there and let it dry to find salt crystals. Since there is no "trail" anywhere else I am thinking the check valve, but why??? So if I stay in the intercoastal and at the dock I get nothing but when I run in the ocean for awhile in different seas in Florida my AC's are always running and I am thinking when the water exit on the starboard side dips below the water line for a second or two the "manifold drain system" backs up and sends water back down the bilge pump line and the the check valve is no longer sealing well???? It is definately a possibility. I plan to remove it this weekend and investigate further and replace it with a new one. I have to try.... I will post my findings.

Super helpful, thanks. Any idea of best place to source it, or the usual suspects (West Marine?)?

This is the stuffing box but I'm not sure of the nut size. If I recall, the 1.5" is the rudder post size. Here's what my mechanic used when they were re-packed.View attachment 91947
Thanks Jeffery... I actually watched a bunch of videos where they use a pipe wrench so I might try that. I had both repacked when I bought her but have a little drip on the port side. I talked to the yard and he said to just spin the lower nut down a couple turnes and then synch down the gland nut a turn and that should squeeze the packing and solve my issue. I can take it to him and he said he would do it for me but I like doing stuff myself. I found some nice wrenches on www.yorkdesignandfab.com and figured I would order one and keep it on the boat.
