Arrrgh..... Just spoke with Sam at Techngrafic 3 week wait for my custom panel.... Guess I will have to stair at these MFD's on my workbench for awhile before I get to use them.....

Hi Jeffrey, I was trying to look up the sanitation hose on the Jamestown website and could not find the hose referencing the item no#SHI-1011120, do you remember what hose you used? (white, black, wire supported etc) I am going to tackle changing out the sanitation hoses in the spring and was leaning towards using the white hose with wire support. Ug... not looking forward to it. Any pointers you may have on this project would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
JB
Ohhh damn....make sure you have a helper. Here's what I used. When you're ready to do this, I have all kinds of lessons learned.

Hey everyone, awhile back there was a post on installing a flat screen TV where the current TV is and also having it custom fit so that it took up the cabinet to the right where the stereo is. I can't remember who did this. Can someone point me to the post/picture? It looked really good and I'm considering doing this. Thanks in advance!

Jeffrey, OC & Shaps thank you for the info I really appreciate your help. Anyone want to volunteer to help do the job :D ... lol
No leaks yet but the hoses show signs of cracking so I am being preemptive on this, don't want any surprises during the season. What I don't understand is why after 10 or 11 years these hoses go bad? I find it hard to believe all boats have to replace sanitation hoses after this amount of time. Is this true?

Hi Jeff,

I might have posted a pic, but it would have been from this shark tooth guy. I think the first time you can see it in his video is around 6:35 or so. Last I knew his boat was for sale pretty cheap down in the Miami area.

LOL... Yes it was sitting 2 blocks from me in Ft Lauderdale for months parked behind a run down house on the New River. Looked beat to crap....

Now the TV install looked great in the video but you give up so much storage to do that. I just cannot justify. I don't watch that much TV on my boat anyway. It would interfere with my drinking time.....

So what I was told by a friend is that Sea Ray bought miles of this hose at a time to get the price they wanted and it sat outside in Flordia sun and UV in their yards for a long time that took years off its life. In the end of the day rubber hose usually has a 10-15 year life at best so I figure I am right there. I have the same cracking but no leakage. I am planning on tackling this in the one week of winter we get in South Florida when it is not 90 degrees out. I already tested my daughters boyfriend who is pretty mechanical and skinny. He was able to get behind the port side motor all the way up to the firewall where the one hose has 2 tubes of silicone holding it in that will have to be "dug" out to free it. Thank god as there is no way my 6'1" 230 pound fat ass can get anywhere near it. That and Jeffery's tip on removing the thruster batteries and hot water heater should make access bearable in the back. I am planning on just replacing the water heater at the same time as it will be my luck to get it all back together and it will fail the following week. I am planning 2 days with 2 of us all day to get this done. That will include painting and cleaning under the thruster batteries and water heater as well as rebuilding all the pumps with new duck bills.

It's definitely 2 days of work and yes. Cutting away the silicone at the bulkhead is a pain in the ass. I went as far as removing the pumps and taking them home to completely clean and rebuild them. Painting and cleaning that whole area makes perfect sense too. I took a couple of paint chips to home depot and had them match the color and mix me up a gallon of epoxy paint. Not a perfect match but looks pretty good. I considered replacing the water heater too but didn't. Knock on wood it holds up as it's just a pain in the ass to maneuver it out. I did manage to do it by myself though. Let me know if you guys need any input.

Good point Grant! Who needs TV when you have whisky?

If you are in that deep pull the vacuum generators out of the boat, tear them down, and wash them out - I guarantee they are full of stuff that will not pass through to the tank......Geez that was nasty; make sure to put something over the open hose connection ends when hauling them out of the boat (hint). And, might as well replace the bellows and other softgoods - I had one of those bellows fail and it spewed nasty stuff all over.

ttmott thanks for the tips. I took out the forward vaccuflush tank last year, cleaned and replaced the bellows, gaskets and duck bills, it worked perfectly all year. It was for sure one nasty job! Will takle the aft this spring. This is how I came across the hoses looking so poor and cracking, no leaks as of yet.

Yes as someone else on this forum once said "it is a good day at the boat when there is NOT a fecal incident" I always loved that one....

I just had most of my holding tank/vacuum pump/macerator plumbing redone and my toilet guy used the white wire reinforced hose.

So... decided it was time to attack the actuator that was not working on the port side window. Cut the silicone out and removed the panel to expose the actuators. Found connectors corroded like I was told to expect. Cleaned everything up and it started working. I re-did all the connectors and cleaned all the caulking. I went to HD and found a beige caulking....I know the haters will say it isn’t marine, I don’t care it is exterior and I have to say it is a perfect color match. For where it is I am fine and it has a 5 year warranty...lol who uses a caulking warranty. I have to say it was my best caulking job ever I have done... in the end it was about a 5 hour job start to finish to get it all done, that included a lot of cleaning and some rust removal, repainting the actuators. In the end looks great and all working again.

Nice Job Grant.
Nice that all it cost was a tube of caulk and some time.
That's a win!

Great job! I always wondered how to get to those things. I'll have to save this info.

Has anyone experienced leaks on the fittings of the factory Seatech hose fittings? Every year I find more failures of these fittings and have to cut the hose replace with a barb style fitting and clamp. It's a real PITA!

Yes! Like EVERY TIME I look at one of them in. For me, especially in the engine room.
I bought a couple 5 packs of these to keep on the boat along with stainless wormgear clamps

I just bought a PEX clamp tool as well, but not sure I will redo the ones i have already replaced.

Edit..
On the HWH was the latest
