48 DA Owners Club

i called about it a few weeks ago. its a black boat and it has a contract on it. I believe the first pic is another boat the same broker had for sale a while back. I found that listing somewhere. If you are interested in a Blue Hull 48, I went and looked at this one a few weeks ago.

I ended up getting a 55 Sundance instead. If you are interested in this 48 i can give you the low down.

Thanks for the offer, that boat is about 45 mins away.

the Denison ad had all the numbers wrong on that boat. The blue hull boat is up in the Chicago area. Hopefully there's a couple of 48's I'm going to look at down here.
Which 55 did you end up with? I just might look at a couple down here also. The Sundancer market seems to be moving the last couple of weeks.

I got one from up this way. Wanted to go White this time. The "Black Diamond" Boat is FLA is certainly a nice machine. I truly believe the 48 is one of the best boats SR ever built. My last boat was a 48 but thought I would try a 55 this time and keep it as long as I can afford it. Did the sea trial last week. Did 33 kts. Love the ride. This boat has the 3 stateroom layout.

Looking to replace main batteries and bow thruster batteries. Been looking at AGM as an alternative to flooded.
What do you guys think.

I replaced my batteries with AGMs last year. Did not want to deal with adding water, etc. 1 season down and no issues. If you go that route don't forget to change your charger to the correct setting.

Good advice. I was wondering about that. The ProTech charger for the Bow Thruster shows only two settings, Flooded/AGM and GEL so I am assuming you are referring to the main charger for the house batteries.

Yessir. Exactly.

Thanks, I'm a little concerned about Thruster Charger because the current batteries look like they are cooking. I've filled them with water twice this past year and they are only 2 years old.

Mine were acting similar, and also began not taking a full charge so I upgraded to AGM, and replaced the charger with a ProNautic 2430P.

Been a little quiet lately... Whats going on? All you northerners hard at work getting ready to launch? Let's see some 48 action going on.... I have just been messing with adding features to my Siren Marine Alarm and using the crap out of the boat the past 3 weekends as the weather has been great in SoFLo. Looking forward to the action returning to here once you all up north get launched.

Unwrapped this past weekend. Getting more wax/polish on her. Going in April 3rd. Season has arrived!

THEN, i get to hook up the genset to the n2k network via the maretron.

Yep, getting here all shined up and ready. Still can't figure out how to get power working even with 2 legs of 110V on a 50A splitter. Anyone ever have success with that?

Probably another 3 weeks or so before launch.
- Just finishing up my new fangled a/c line clean out manifold. Our marina is just off of a river with a lot of sediment, and I got tired of having to reach under that battery shelf to pull each line off individually to blow water through them every month.
- Replaced the main a/c pump with a 1440 GPH Oberdorfer pump to increase the flow.
- Raised the helm seats 3" to improve the sightline while cruising.
- Repositioned the big D-batteries so they're stacked instead of side by side to accommodate hinging the shelf to access new manifold easier.

I'm working on getting pics, but it's kinda dark in there.

@Seveman
My understanding is the 50A service requires 2 different legs, so 2 different phases for the power to work.
It's an all or none proposition. When we first got to our new slip, they supposedly had 50A service but they cheated, just split 1 leg. They had to bring the second leg in for the power to work for me.

Wow, like those improvements. Would love to see the pics on them when you get a chance.

I ran two separate legs and no luck. Everything I read about the Iso-Boost Transformer is that it is "designed for a 240 vac only input and there is not an available connection for the shore power neutral on the input".
