48 DA Owners Club

So was in the engine room yesterday and the VF cycling has gotten worse and decided that this weekend I need to rebuild the units. I went and got the complete rebuild kits and ready as I will ever be to tackle this shitty job. Any tips appreciated.

Bless you for taking on this shtty project.

I had to replace a bellows on my aft unit last month and gladly turned it over to the professionals.

I just did mine and its easier that I originally thought. Take a small bucket with you down there to put everything in for disposal and cleaning before reinstallation. I went slow and did (1) pump at a time incase I had problems putting back together. Don't need to disconnect any wires just maybe a couple zip ties.

Yes - remove the complete unit from the boat. The tank interior will need a complete flush and pressure wash; mine was full of solids and other pleasant artifacts. I didn't find that lost Rolex however....

I didn't do that but probably should have. Next time.....ugh

Whenever I read the 2006 48 DA Owners Manual, there appears to be a hanging locker in the aft stateroom, at the foot of the aft bed (behind the TV, so to speak). See attached. Can anyone confirm the existance or non-existance of this space?

Thanks,

Jaybeaux

Shaps, was it difficult to remove door ? Do you need to remove top track?
Not difficult. And no, I didn't remove the top track. You lift the door enough so those studs clear the cutout in the truck.
I removed the top panel that covers the track in the stateroom and the moulding that the door slides into on the port side. Go slow.

Jaybeaux,
I can’t speak for that model year but it does not exist on my 2009.

Ocgrant,

it’s much easier to remove the entire tank and complete the nasty task of rebuild the first time in a controlled environment.

I have done this with both of mine and did a complete cleanup and rebuild. I did accomplish this after winterizing the entire boat which made it less stinky. Going forward I will do the maintenance inside the boat unless it becomes nasty again.

Hey OC,

Would you be able to send me a pic of the fuel line leak/issue you experienced? I would also like to get out in font of this issue.

Ran our boat out to our summer docking in Mystic Conn. first run of the year (170 miles) and everything performed well. Thank God! I did a lot of maintenance over the Spring and my fingers were crossed.

Thank you so much,
JB
Hey JB, Any Block island Trips planned? We will be there on 7/8 -7/10

Hey Rocket,

How is the Sunseeker treating you? We will be in Block on the 5th till the 8th. Looks like we will miss one another or pass on the in and out. We go a few times per year now that we dock in Mystic so let me know when you plan to go out again.

Get some silicone plumbers grease and use it on the o rings and duckbill bases...

Took that POS out a long time ago and made it into a hanging locker along with draws for clothes storage, I also store my tool bag in there.

Yea I was looking at it like that as the best way and based on Tom’s recommendation to clean out the tank. Looks like they actually installed this correctly with a plug to just detach it and lift it out. I like that…. Thank god. I am thinking about an hour each to clean & rebuild and r&r another hour for both.
