480 DB Owners Club

We actually use ours, but we typically only use it for swim suits, t shirts and small items like shorts. We really take advantage of it when we are staying longer durations on the boat for trips and don't have to bring along so much clothing.
I think cannon balls off the swim platform are great ways to wash swimsuits, just sayin.....

We use our WD often, works well once you figure out how to use it and overcome its issues. Smaller loads is the first key. Removal is not that difficult, remove the ac under the stairs and slide it out that way~

I never thought of removing it that way. That just may speed up the process for me since it is coming out for more storage.

Helm Instrument Cover / Canvas
Hey, I realize this is a long shot, but has anyone had a helm canvas cover made (2004 480DB) they were happy with and the shop may still have the measurements? In other words, a shop that could make one without having to come measure because they already have a pattern. Thanks

Try Boatswains Locker in Jacksonville, FL. They made all the OEM enclosures and canvas for Sea Ray.

Thanks, I just went ahead and got a canvas shop to make one, they haven’t finished yet...

Long time listener, first time caller.
Just moved from a 2009 310 Sundancer to a 2002 480DB. Still acclimating, but amazing boat. Y’all have been a great resource.
Been thinking about converting the livewell into a cooler. Wondering if anybody has done this.
Maybe spray foam the outside of the box from the locker, or perhaps use rigid foam insulation board. Just spit-balling here. Would love some opinions.

Welcome to the group CHTN. I'm pretty sure our boats are at the same marina. I don't know anything about the project you are considering, but if I can help in any way let me know. Mike

I am wanting to change out my window gasket/trim pieces next month after I reseal the windows. I know there was a discussion on how much trim I need to replace just the front windows. I cannot find that post and the one link I found would not pull up. I believe it is Taylor Made. I have sent them an email with no answer yet. Anybody know the part number and where to order?

We have thought about this as well. We have on a couple of occasions just filled the space with ice and drinks when we have had a lot of people on board and needed the extra drink space. We just kept adding more ice when needed.
Went through a lot of ice, but it kept a lot of drinks cold for the weekend.

You have to order through Searay to get it. Very time I try to go through TM, they make me order through SR. good luck.

When was your last impeller change? Take a look at your genny water flow out the rear port corner of the boat and see what type flow you have. If it is weak or intermittent then you need a new impeller. You should have a strong flow of water shooting out the exhaust.

You don't say in your sig if you are fresh or salt. Take the end of your HE and inspect for clogging...as well as the impeller. If you are over two thousand hours, you might replace the whole pump - the cam wears...

Hey, On a 2004 480DB or similar,
Has anyone had to change out the Sea-Fire extinguisher because it’s Halon. The replacement seems way too big to fit in that spot. I can’t imagine having to repeat-rout that cable and wiring, surely there’s an easier fix for this and I’m not the first one. TIA.

Mine is a 2003 with Halon. It was inspected by a fire extinguisher company in the spring and passed. Inspector said it looks and tested great.

That's great, as long as they pass inspection your ok, but the Halon can not be recharged, Sea-Fire has an exchange, but it's too large to fit where the existing one is......

I'd like someone smarter than me to explain how important they are on a diesel boat. ABYC doesn't require them and requires four B-1 extinguishers for your size boat.
