We run our genny all the time also, It gets started while the boat is still plugged into the dock. I turn the AC units off, and let the genny warm up for a few minutes. Then switch over to genny power and turn the AC's back on. It doesn't get turned off until we are back at the dock.

+1 Generator runs from the time the boat leaves the dock until the time the boat returns to a dock. I've ran the generator for four days straight before, without the generator skipping a beat.

Once back to the dock I let the generator run for three or four minutes after the AC is back on, to allow the generator to cool without a high load. And run the bilge blowers for 20-30 minutes to help assist engine room cool down.

See... Mr. Webster is wrong when he says a hydraulic swim platform will rot off the boat... I'm getting ready to go in the water and the underwater hardware looks perfect. This will be the 9th season in radioactive saltwater:

Crappy photos taken from a crappy iphone camera.

The hull is slick enough to smoke that gas 410 DA following me up to Atlantic City this summer...

I never said the platform would "rot off your boat".

What I did say was that they are a maintenance nightmare when used in salt water. I notice, Mr. Smarty-Pants, that your photos were taken after, not before, your ANNUAL hydraulic platform reconditioning exercise..............How much was that yard bill?

BTW, boat looks great..............

I can't remember if those are before or after pictures... You assume too much... They might be before... let me go look and see if I can find out.

Dang, Gary. Did your bottom cleaner quit? The after photos look great. I'm glad to see it's all holding up quite nicely after nine years.

Boy that 480 is a sharp looking boat. Not a bad shine on that hull either !

Nope... but they don't dive after the last week in November... and it was cleaned... and the boat was pulled in March.

Don't worry. You have the new "special metal" lift that won't do this... really...

Never heard that one. I'm sure it would be the same - I hope it would be the same - intact and ready for more action.

Who you talkin' 'bout Willis?

I am coming back out the end of June to wax the hull again. And it's not July yet there Skipper. Let's see if you can KEEP it that clean in time for AC. Plus, No photos ops this year since you are leaving earlier than me.

Question...anybody had problems with the cylinder that lifts to the door to the bridge? I've now replaced the plastic end that threads onto the cylinders piston twice and I don't see the 3rd one lasting long either. Just seems like there's too much pressure when then doors shut and piston is retracted putting ton of force on the plastic cap. Cylinder looks original with right stroke and everything. Thinking about making one of the ends out of aluminum.

I have not busted the head off of that one... but I have broke the ones for the engine hatch several times... same cheap plastic head.

Last time I replaced it I ordered 3 spares cuz I noticed the same cylinders were on the hatch, port stateroom bed, and somewhere else i think too. Seems like a poor design, choice of materials.

The back cockpit seat... broke those too...

Doesn't matter... The 480 DB is the best looking Sea Ray EVER made.
