500/520 DB official thread

Damn. I couldn't find it. I'll look again this weekend. I even turned the others off to try to find it by sound. M

The Owner's Manual is incorrect for this HVAC unit. It is actually called the Aft Air Conditioning unit and it is for the Port stateroom and guest head and is located behind the port dinette seat cushion. It is a 7000 BTU unit.
I replaced mine with a 10000 BTU unit last year.

Thank you. M

Question, replacing with a larger unit, did you notice improved air flow or other differences? I like the MarineAire brand units. Which did you purchase?

Dometic DTU10 because it interfaced with the existing SMXII control and fit in the same footprint that the original had. The starboard stateroom can get rather warm so the extra air flow and cooling capacity was the thought when replacing. It was recommended by our local Dometic service rep. who did the replacement. It was replaced in late 2019 so I can't yet determine if it really changed anything as we haven't really been using the boat a lot.

John, just trying to clean the filter. Ours cools well.

On a side note, I have an 11' whaler as a tender on the stern. The front ratchet strap has overlapping hooks to tie the bow down. My kid kicked it overboard last weekend. Anyone with a similar set up know what to properly call the front ratchet strap?

Mike, make sure you not he’s in S Florida and could use the extra cooling capacity which you don’t need on the Great Lakes FWIW.
Central Fl on the East coast - But a good point; not only hotter here but the water temperature gets to 90F so the capability to transfer the heat diminishes consequently a larger capacity HVAC unit is beneficial. I have also greatly increased the raw water flow with a larger pump. I keep the thermostats set at 79 degrees when not there and turn them down to 74 when we are using the boat. The fans are set to run 24/7 on all three systems.

50AMP 240v Main Breaker - anyone know where to get a replacement?

Went to replace my Shore Power cord and one of the terminals was stripped. I tried to apply pressure to the back of the nut to get it to grab. No luck and broke the back a little.

Got a front pic?

Attached. I did find out the OEM is a company 50 miles from me still in business. AIRPAX out of Cambridge, MD and I think the parent company is Sensata Technologies. I will call them tomorrow.

If anyone knows another company that makes these unique breaker that would be cool.

Yeah West Marine sells these but they are not the same. Ours are unique as I understand.

Hmmm it should be a standard interface that all marine circuit breakers share. What's not the same?

Cut to Print, Beat to Fit, Paint to Match......

Ours have a much larger footprint and the mounting holes are larger. I suppose I could reconfigure the Mounting Cover however I will call the manufacturer in the am to check price and availability.

Part Number 209-2-1-66F-3-9-50

Has anyone ever needed to get some of the galley countertop? It’s a product called Karadon, my color is Bahamas Sand. I was drinking Tito’s and needed ice and managed to slam a bag of ice on the cover of the sink and crack it and want to replace. The Tito’s tasted better after about 4 and realizing I’m an idiot.

Mounted my new cockpit table. The old one was not large enough to get us all to sit at to eat together. Now 3 of us can sit on the bench and I can pull up the deck chair to have dinner. Rich at Global Shipwrights did a great job at a fair price. He advertises on CSR and has a great product. He was helpful getting the shape, inlay and size table I wanted. I moved the old cockpit table up to the bridge. (Middle pic)

Jeremy:
The tables look great. A couple questions. Do you have to put them inside when not in use?

Does the flooring hold water after a rain? Does it get hot in the sun?
