I own a Sea Ray Sundancer 320 2004 and I cannot get any cold air from the a/c unit, it gives me a P5 code on the control after a few minutes of running. Any suggestions ? Heat and fan work just fine. Thanks.

We just got that same code on our forward AC. I am having an AC guy look at it on Monday. The code is in your manual. The manual says high temp on the high pressure side due to lack of flow. We have a clear hose to the unit and there was no water in it. The AC guy thinks that it may be clogged up with growth.

    We got the following symptoms.

    The AC will turn on.
It will run for a few minutes.
The system shuts down and the P5 code flashes.

I will let you know next week, but my guess is you are having the same lack of flow issue. My other thought was that a pump may be bad, but all of the other three AC units work fine.

Assume your air filter screen is all clear and clean?

Robski, Is there a difference between P5 and PS? They look the same on the LED screen. I could only find the one in the manual. I am not trying to hyjack this thread, but we are getting that code also. I hope to know on monday.

Just had this happen to me a few nights ago in Bimini..Had the underwater swim platform lights on and must have sucked a small fish or something in the intake. Had the PS code, and the air would go on for a few and then the compressor would shut down and the error message would appear. No water was discharging so I knew the A/C was not getting the water it needed to cool. Opened and closed the seacock a bunch of times, opened and cleaned out the strainer, opened the seacock while the top of the strainer was open to make sure water flowed thru, then closed up and the A/C worked fine after that.

So, check the strainer basket, open and close the seacock valve 3 or 4 times, make sure water is flowing thru with the seacock open (just for a moment), and you should be good to go. If not, after you've done all that, get the boat moving and see if that doesn't clear out what was stuck, and again if not, you might have blow out the line. Good luck

This must be the day to have AC issues- I too have a "HI PS" code on my Cruisair SMX salon AC. I do not have cooling water flow when the salon AC is cooling (but I do when the forward AC is cooling), so I am pretty sure it is a trigger in the relay box. This board has other threads that cover my issue, you may want to search under "trigger" to see if it helps you.

I have had the HI PS code when the strainer sucks up mud and there is no water flowing through the heat exchanger. Mystic Dreamer are both of the air conditioners served by the same strainer/ water intake? If they are the problem is likely something else. If they are not served by the same strainer make sure the strainer is clean. Drive the boat to get any mud out of the under water scoop.

Miss mountains . Its probably PS. Check to see if ur getting water out fwd tru hull for that a/c, They use one pump for all 3 a/c units. The MFING splitter is not at the pump . Its burried in some horrific place that on my 44 I can reach. I send the midget monkey down to blow out my lines 2x season. Why in gods name they can't put these things where there supposed too!!!!!!! ( with in normal reach) anyway... if ur getting water tru 2 of ur 3 a/c tru hulls u havea blockage. if no water from any tru hulls then it could be the triggers everyone talks about or something else. So post if theres water flow from all 3 tru hulls when u have the issue ... or only two or none ....

Before you pay somone for repair: check if your water pump starts, if does - prime the pump and should work like it used to.

I guess I am Hyjacking. Sorry. The other three AC's are working fine. I cleaned the strainers (2). Nothing. The pump runs fines. I agree Robski. I think there is blockage. I turned on the forward AC and the relay pump. No water is discharging. When I turn on any other AC, water discharges. I too tried to trace the lines. They are buried. However, I did not find a splitter.

Because the other three AC's are working, we suspect blockage.

Finally found the problem. After checking the strainer, the seacock and the waterline for problems, turned out that the idiot who did the maintenance on the unit had hooked up the water lines backwards... All is fine right now... Thanks for help and suggestions.

Once I had both hoses in my hands and was going to replug everything, it occurred to me that I could easily plug them back backwards myself... so why wouldn't that be the solution ? Could have saved myself the pain from going down under and cleaning everything for nothing... pretty cramped down there...

I have a forward cruisair ac unit doing the samething. It comes up with Hi PS. I thought at first it was an error code of Hi P5. The funny thing about the ac, it only errors out when I set the ac for 79 degrees or above. I have it set for 75 degrees and it has been running for a week. When I set it for 79 degrees it errors out within a matter of seconds. Did not mean to intrude, but I was hoping someone would tell me that I am not crazy.

Yet another dude who says "I have a problem..." and doesn't let anyone know what kind of boat he/she/it has. One would think after reading this board one would know not to post a question without that info... sell your boat.

I say you have grass clippings in your outside heat exchanger. You do have a Trane don't you?

Gary, are you an Engineer or an electronic tech. I am talking about air conditioners. Why do you need to know what type of boat I have?
