I'm upgrading my system and am looking at the fusion SG-DA41400. I want to us this to power (2) JL M6 880 and (2) JL M6 770 speakers. Anyone ever use this amp here? How do you like it? It looks like wattage it's a good fit. Currently I'm running a Kicker to run a couple MX 770's. Here's what I'm looking to do before and after. Should sound a little better.

Before...
#1AMP= Kicker KMA 400.2 (Bridged at 2 ohm) feeding
(4) JL MX 650's

#2AMP= Kicker KMA 400.2 (Bridged at 2 ohm) feeding
(2) JL MX 650's
(2) JL MX 770's

#3AMP= JL MX300/1 feeding
(1) JL MX 10" sub

AFTER..

#1 AMP= Kicker KMA 400.2 ( not bridged ) feeding
(2) JL M6 650's

#2 AMP= Kicker KMA 400.2 ( not bridged ) feeding
(2) JL M6 770's

#3 AMP= Fusion SG DA 41400 Feeding
(2) JL M6 770's
(2) JL M6 880's

#4 AMP = JL MX300/1 feeding
(1) JL MX 10" sub

As you're probably aware I did a lot of this research recently. I am not the expert; my research suggested Kicker, Rockford Fosgate or JL for quality amps. Fusion seems to do very well with the head unit, not so well with everything else from my research. My boat came with a Fusion sub that I plan to replace.

I purchased the Fusion SG-DA41400 a couple of weeks ago - very nice audio amplifier. I ended up sending it back because of some defects but also it was quite a bit bigger than the JL amp it was replacing in a small confined area.
One thing though - it is specifically designed to connect to a multi-zone Fusion Head (zone 1 and zone 2) and does not have a channel 1 to channel 2 combine switch like most other 4 and 5 channel amplifiers. You will have to install a couple of "Y" adapters across the Zone 1 and Zone 2 RCA inputs if you are not using a multi-zone input.

New Fusion head unit and sub 2 years ago. I couldn't be happier. I was a JL guy for my auto's forever, but those remotes on the boat are handy. Unless you have a bunch of teenagers...then its hell:D

Fisrt question, there will be eight (8) total speakers in this system? 2, how many volume zones will you need? Where are these speakers located, tower, transom, salon, cabin, cockpit, arch?

What did you go with for speakers and amp(s)?

Orlando, allow me to correct myself. Head unit and amp. I left the speakers alone. I had a high pitch whine with my old amp so I swapped those two. Sound is great so I didn't feel a need to swap speakers/sub. I have the 4 channel 1400 watt amp. SG-DA41400. I've thought about adding a dedicated sub amp but don't really need to. And of course, now you are making me look at Fusion speakers....:D

8 speakers. JL M100 head unit (4 zones no cabin) (2) 880”s are down low front port and starboard seat compartment, (2) 770 rear sink area and starboard cup holder compartment (2) 770”s and (2) 650” in the arch. (1) Sub down low. Port side. ( pictured are the MX speakers that I changed.)

@Wylie_Tunes Question for you as well. Are the JL Audio speaker 6.5" (M6 series) that much better then the Infiniti Sig. Series 3i 6.5" ? I haven't had the change to listen to any of the 3i speakers. I know the JL sounds great, but was curious as to a real word comparison.

I know the MM100 has 4 zones, but you didnt clarify how many you want to use. What I see, is 3 zones. Woofer, lower 8's and 7's and arch 6.5's and 7's. The arch speakers are going to have a locational advantage and will therefore, sound louder then the lower speakers, when seated between the arch. The next challange I see, is that there are 2 different sizes in the arch, so in a perfect world, it would be best to have them on different amp chnls/controls from each other.

So as I see it, there is a need for 4 pairs total chnls, each with their own set of tuning controls. So you could keep the two KMA 2 chnls and add a 4 chnl. This is going to require some RCA Y cables to link the two 2 chnls to a zone, as well as you will need to Y the 2nd and populate all 4 RCA inputs on the Sig 4 chnl.

Another option would be to pair the arch 6.5 and 7" on one KMA4002 and eliminate the need for a pair of Y cables. I normaly try to avoid pairing speakers of different sizes on the same amp chnls, but in this case, it not really an issue IMO. These speakers are close in size, close in realistic power handling and the amps output is ok for both, they need to be on the same volume zone anyway and they are so close to each other anyway. The only real advantage to having them on their own chnls, is the larger 7" will be a little dominate over the 6.5". If one was to detect this, then the gain could be lowered to balance. But like I said, with them being right next to each other, having the 7" slighlty louder, is not going to be an issue. So you could do this with a single 4002 and Sig 4 chnls.

Now, I would consider removing both KMA4002 and go with a single Sig 8 chnl. All chnls would run at 4 ohm for a 100W rms to each speaker and would still over you the 2 zones for the arch and lower cockpit speakers.

I like the Fusion Sig series amps. My only dislike is that they lack an input mode switch. So EVERY RCA input has to be populated, regardless of how many/few zones the amp will be.

Just a word about the Apollo series amps and the DSP. These amps are essentually full-pass only. The DSP tuning is done pre-amp. So the Apollo series has to be paired with a media unit like the Fusion Apollo units. They contain the DSP and send out the tuned signal to the amp.

The KMA's has a pass thru RCA. I may keep them on the same channel and use them for 2 770 and 2 650 in the arch. I can tune some gain down on the 650's if it's too much wattage. The Fusion 150 x4 at 4 ohm will use the other 2 inputs that will control the lower 770's and 880's with separate volumes. Last output to the sub amp. I'd rather not buy a 8 channel

Using two KMA4002 is the same net wattage to each speakerI doubt you will get the gain to full potential. Given the speakers are located in your face when seated in those forward spots, I bet you will dialing them back.

Report back on the use of 3 zones for one common listening area. If it was my system, id gain-balance all the amps to the most central listening area, and use one volume zone.

I am curious to know why folks install 2 sets of speakers inside the radar arch like that, what's the added benefit/value?

With the 6.5”s and 7.7”s it sounds much better. Also volume and clarity.
Did you ever upgrade to the Fusion Amps? I've been considering the Axiom Amps as an upgrade. I have a 6 Channel JL M600/6 but I'm only powering 4 of the 6 channels as it was not the exact amp I wanted/needed, but was "good enough" as it was available and on sale at the local WM when my factory original amps died.

Not yet. There on backorder where I ordered. I wanted a class D amp. What is the Axiom? Never heard of them. Post a link

Doh! I meant Fusion Apollo. Raymarine is Axiom!!!

I have the MS-RA770, and looking to go back to the way the boat was originally wired, but with some small improvement. Ideally, I’d have 3-4 zones, and looking at 2x 4 channel plus a separate Sub amp.

You should keep your JL amp and the unused channels can be bridged for a sub. But I understand wanting the Fusion amps. Considering that myself.
