Anyone have Fusion Amps?

Fusion confusion...
Do the different zones get different music or different volume?
Assuming the Fusion amplifier (4 channel) is connected to a single audio head like the MS-RA770 and two zones from the RA770 are connected to the amplifier then the same audio (music) but totally different audio control (volume, tone, etc) from the amplifier's speaker outputs.
The RA770 has a capability to control 4 separate zones.

Depends on which media unit. In general, zone control is just independent volume control of different amplifier zones. You can either turn up/down individually or set a ratio and then use the master dial to turn all zone up/down and maintain the ratio.

Now, some marine media units do have a "zone-2" output, which is a 2nd media source. So you could have dad's playlist up top and the kids playlist down in the salon.

Specific to Fusion, I do not believe they currently offer a unit with dual media outputs, just volume zones.

Re Fusion (at least the MS-RA770) each zone has not only volume but separate Sub out RCA's, crossover settings, and tone controls.

What head units offer this? I have not seen any that do this. Might be a nice addition, does JL off that?

With regards to Fusion. Only one media source at a time. But completely independent volume/tone/DSP control of each zone.

I need a new amp, I had another head unit with an internal amp for the galley and vberth. I pulled it as I never used it as a separate area (I thought I’d used it to listen to TV and DVD)like I thought.

Currently, I only have one zone powered from the 6 channel JL Audio M600/6. Channel 1&2 power the speakers in the arch and the ones at knee level by/across from the helm (as was wired from tune SR factory), and I have Channels5&6 bridged for the Zone 1 Sub.

I’d like the arch and knee levels on their own zones, so I can get more out of the lower speakers, and break out the sub onto a mono block. Then I still need a 4 Channel amp to power the galley and a VBerth zones separately.

Amp #1
Zone 1 Arch Speakers —> Chanel 1&2
Zone 2 Knee Height Speakers —> Chanel’s 3&4

Amp#2
Zone 1 Sub —> Mono Block

Amp #3
Zone 3 —> Galley Ceiling Channels 1&2
Zone 4 —> Vberth Channels 3&4

Could also do this with a 8 channel, or 6/2…

I thought this would be a issue, and installed 2 head units to accomplish this, but in reality, we never used it like that, so going back to a single head Fusion with single source playback and 4 independently volume controlled zones.

Somethhing to consider Dave -
Zone 4 on my MS-RA770 is set to "line out" constant voltage and I feed that output via RCA based shielded cables into the solon / cabin A/V system (Bose in my case); the Aux In on the Bose system. This way I can have the Fusion source music also fed into the boat's interior areas yet separately controlled through the cabin A/V system.
So, if you decide to have a standalone A/V system in the cabin......

Kicker offered one, but I cant remember if its still part of their current KMC5 model. Not positive with my memory, but I think Clarion had a model and also Rockford.

Not all Fusion units have the DSP and sub-out on each zone.

This is what I was thinking. I bought 2 Fusion Amps and still have the 2 Kicker ones. Just figuring out the best way to set them up. I have 3 separate inputs that I can use. All new M6's speakers and want to get the most out of them.

Fusion amp = 150w x 4 RMS per channel 4 ohm
or 440w x 2 RMS per channel 4 ohm

Kicker amp = 100w x 2 RMS per channel 4 ohm

Speakers...
JL 650's..Continuous Power Handling (RMS) 75 W
Recommended Amplifier Power (RMS) 25 - 150 W / Ch.

JL 770's..Continuous Power Handling (RMS) 100 W
Recommended Amplifier Power (RMS) 40 - 200 W / Ch.

JL 880's..Continuous Power Handling (RMS) 125 W
Recommended Amplifier Power (RMS) 50 - 250 W / Ch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setup.....
Fusion SG-DA 41400 ( Input #1) 150w RMS each
(4) 770's M6
Note.. This amp has a pass thru RCA that I can feed right back to channel 2. It has the same signal level and frequency as the original input level.

Fusion SG-DA 41400 ( Input #2 ) Bridged, 440w RMS each ( turn down the gain though....!! and adjust that input volume to get the max potential of speaker)
(2) 880's M6

Kicker KXM 400.2 ( Input #3 ) 100w RMS each
(2) 650's M6

OR............

Fusion SG-DA 41400 ( Input #1) 150w RMS each
(4) 770's M6

(2) 880's M6 ( Input #2 )
(2) 650's M6 ( Input #3 ) ( Gain turned down)

Use these Wye adapters instead of the pass-through and separate cable -

Much of the configuration depends upon the source - If, for example, the head unit was multi-zone then tailoring the amplifiers for each speaker set becomes more versatile.
What about subwoofers?

Thanks. I just bought those. I’ll do it that way. I have a JL M100 4 zone head unit and a JL10 inch sub with its own amp already.

Curious, if your all JL then why did you go with Fusion amps?

Price and wattage. The wattage is where I wanted to be. JL and Wet sounds were like double in price. I couldn’t find a 4 channel 150w JL amp without bridging.

Yeah, hard to justify the cost when half the price sounds just as good.
