Going on a Cruise to Bermuda in a couple of weeks, have never been there! We'll be in Port a day and a half and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to "Do Not Miss" and great restaurants while there?

I'm going on a Bermuda cruise in May....leaving from Manhattan. This will be my first time going....people who have gone suggest to rent a scooter and explore yourself. Apparently there is a nice bar called the Swizzle somewhere down there.

I have been to bermuda 5 times (via plane).......I would 100% rent mopeds and explore.......Just be careful as they drive on the opposite side of the road.....I stay at the Elbow Beach which has the best "typical beach"...........I would just drive your mopeds and get lost and find the coves....There is one cove and I forget the name of it, but it is private and beautiful.......You can swim with dolphins, etc., but I would just drive and explore and not make plans....You can do whole island in less than a day.........Dark n storyy's are their national drink....

I've been to Bermuda twice on cruise ships and I'm going back again this May. Admiral won't rent the mopeds.....we've seen too many people back on the ship with crutches and stiches....especially if you're going to stop at the local bars. We had to wait one year leaving port for an ambulance to bring a passenger to the ship after a moped misshap.

We always go with NCL out of Manhattan. The ship stays inthe Bermuda port for three full days so you have plenty of time to see and do the "Bermuda' thing. We buy the three day jitney pass which also includes the ferries. Get's you anywhere on the island you need to be.

Henry the VIII's is a nice 'quite' bar for lunch and a beer/mixed drink.....

Oh....and I always try to get in at least one day of diving.......

Now that's a prop....

I have been to Bermuda twice on cruise ships. The last time was last summer during the Long Island CSR rendevous!!

We went on Holland America last year and Royal Carribean a decade ago. We chose Holland America because it is the only cruise line out of the Tri-state area that still hits St. Georges and Hamilton, the capitol. The others go to Kings Warf. When I went a decade ago they had just started using the warf for cruise ships and the only thing there was the prison. I hear it is better now but, nothing like Hamilton! It's awesome to step off the ship into the hustle and bustle of downtown!! They usually close the streets one night for carnival which was cool.

I would definitely rent a moped and hit the off beat beaches. There is no crowding and they are beautiful!! I will try and post a couple pics later if I can find them!!

Driving the mopeds are no problem if you ever rode a motorcycle. I used them both times for several days without incident, although I did see a couple of people that were not so fortunate. They probably shouldn't have been given a scooter in the first place!

I did hit Swizzlers, or Swizzles with another couple we met there and it was a pretty cool place, but not what I would deem a "Must See".

Either way Marshall, Enjoy it as Bermuda is a beautiful place and I will definitely be going back!!

Thanks, Dom and Todd we're going out of Port Liberty with a close couple! It's 5 days and we'll be out of the "Warf". I knew about the ferries and was going to do the one day pass but did not know about the "Jitney". All of us are Drinkers so I think we'll abstain from the Scooters as I gave up Motorcycles for Boats a long time ago!!!:smt038
Bouncing off of water is a lot less traumatic than Pavement

I met a woman and her son at one of the local beaches who was from our ship. She bought the bus pass and was able to make her way around!! If there will be lots of adult beverage consumption then I am in agreement with the bus system!! We saved our boozing for the ship and walking around Hamilton!!

I used to go there every year for work. The Lobster Pot, in Hamilton, is very good. They have a dish that is two lobster tails stuffed with crab meat that is amazing. I haven't been in several years, but I would think it is still as good. A nice spot for a pint is the Frog and Onion Pub, which is in the Royal Naval Dockyard. I would see Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jone, their kids and nanny there once in a while. I think they have a house on the island.

Yes they do. We did a sunset cruise around the Island last year and got alot of info on owning a home there. Michael Douglas' parents were Bermudians and thus so is he. Therefore he was allowed to purchase a home there. Otherwise it is freakin ridiculous to buy a home there!!
