Bilge Blowers on with Generator on?

Frank, I think your forgetting the fact that the incoming air is compressed at about 165psi on the 8.1 +- 10% I can say that just holding my hand to the side exhaust discharge, you can feel alot more exhaust being pushed than the blowers push air.

No, engine compression doesn't play a part. Induction occurs at atmospheric pressure. I would have to adjust of the engine had a supercharger, but these don't and generally, superchargers don't have much effect at lower RPMs.

Best regards,
Frank

Hey Frank-

I gotta disagree with you a little on that one (at least as far as car engines are concerned). My Supercharged SL55 has a Super effect (Head Jerked Back)at low RPM's. Well at all RPMs for that matter. I know when it kicks in as it has that tell tale AMG Chirp.

Not to Hijack the thread. I run blowers almost always. I turn them on before starting and while idling, and then only turn them off when all motors are shut off. I do have a temp gauge to monitor engine compartment and they do make a difference in ER temps. I have so much airflow out the exhaust vents that you could dry wet hands in short order, just like the Mens room dryer.

I should have said at low RPM and minimal throttle settings. Thanks for the correction.

I'd run mine longer if they didn't shut themselves off after running 10 minutes.......Anybody know why that is happening? No breakers tripped so I assume thermal safety protection built into the blower motors but what good are blowers that don't run longer than that?

I agree, You should always run the blowers when engines and generator are running at slow speeds. It is cheep insurance! We just bought a 2000 380 Aft. Cab. And we are looking forward to spending a week on it after we get the misc' things done. Bottom paint, servicing the engines and gen. Still trying to figure why the air conditioners don't work maybe they just need recharging hopefully. Also the fridge doesn't work but the freezer does.Does anyone have any suggestions or answers. Need decription of what the a/c's are doing or not doing ... also the refrig. IS the frig and freezer same unit / seperate ? lights on, noise, hints... something ...
