Boating Season up North

They are talking a Freeze warning tomorrow night here in Northern Minnesota....I will hang on till Oct 1st this year!!

Its going to be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOG Winter!!

Jeez, I thought our season Sucked!! Just got back from Florida.... I was in Boating Heaven! Here in Jersey today was Gorgeous, 85 and sunny 65 at night!! We generally pull between the end of Sept. and beginning of Oct.

I stay in all year, but stop using the boat when our ski mountain opens in early Dec... Thanks Giving is usually our last week end using the boat... We start boating again in April...

I will be out by the end of the month here. The good days after that are hit and miss and its nice to do the winterizing and cleaning her up when the weather is decent.

October 13th. Coat of wax on the outside, then tucked away until the middle of April.

October 15th for me but I have to put it back in when the water drops a bit!....Ugly in Central/Eastern PA last week, Mike.

Up here in Northern VT (about 15 or so miles from the canadian border) mid-Oct or thereabouts.

My marina this year closes Oct 15 but I will likely be out before then since my boat will be moved to Skipper Bud's Volo showroom where it will stay until sold.

Here in Alberta, Canada we will be out by Oct 1st, and not back in until May 1st.

Inbetween I go south to Florida to play on my boat down there, usually 2-3 times per winter.

.............the first "hey it's winter" jab has been thrown out. BAM! Well we can luckily boat all year here if we want. I want but my boat's broke, so I'll need to get her back up to speed(a couple months) before we relaunch.

We're in SE Washington at 46*12'56.16 N, 119*06'38.44" W, near where the Snake River joins the Columbia. Our temps are mild enough that we're able to boat throughout most winters.

We do have an annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade that we join in, and we always have a New Year's Day cruise.

Sorry to hear that Bob!!!!

Marshall,
This is only a transition. When the boat sells I will be buying a brand new 24' sport boat to continue my boating on Barlett Lake in AZ when our house sells here and we move to Scottsdale. There I will be able to boat all year, just on a very much smaller pond.

Have to be out by Oct 15th here in Mich.....very sad. But its in a rack where is will hopefully be safe and sound.....I want a redo on Summer!!

Weekend before Thanksgiving, strictly for fishing purposes.

We can boat year round here In Alabama, no ice on the water but big cruisers and pleasure boats get put up about the end of October.
We all get out our fishing boats from then till spring. I think I have had the last run in my 270 becasue the water gets pulled down on our lake and the water temps get to be to cold to swim.

I retired this spring and we can go boating any time we want to now. The boat gets put away in mid October, hopefully on a sunny, warm day. We've discovered over the years that keeping it out until the end of the season means putting it into storage on cold, dreary days when the rain is blowing sideways. We still have a month of quality boating left including at least one more short cruise. We started anchoring out on the labor day week end. Love doing that as the lake is quiet and we are frequently the only boat on the water.

The boat won't come out until mid to late October, but for all practical purposes, it's over. The lake has turned, too cold to swim, and with outside air temps, who'd want to.

Man Scott it seems like just like two months ago we were seeing pics of all the snow you kept up with...... I just could not go without being out on the lake that long I would go crazy! Hopefully you guys don't see another winter like this last one...

First week of October. It's over "mentally" for me after Labor Day. Very often there are boats going out on a beautiful day while I'm covering her up. It's OK with me - some people are able to stretch it out but for me, it's time to start paying attention to the house again.
