Carter’s Poopy Powder Recharge Day

I know this is an old post but I have a new to me boat to "clean" and have been reviewing the discussions on the home mixed product. Do you mix it in water or dump the 2/1 mix in the toilet/tank dry like Noflex?
Thanks.

Treat it just like the name brand……dump it in dry…..I have been on my first batch of bulk mix for about a month and the only difference is my wallet is a little heavier…..

If anyone is still on this thread, how long do you let this powder sit (dissolving in the water already in that drain and or tank) until you flush with clean water?

And - very importantly - how much do you put in:
1. Clogged drain
2. Black and or grey tanks

I’m just about to make a batch….. in the heads unless you are @Great Lakes then just the head. You use a big tablespoon and just dump it in and flush. Not sure about a clogged drain. I do put it down drains and the shower sump but not to fix a problem…. Just to help not creating one

Just ordered a batch to mix. I'd read that it also cleared drains. So... I'll experiment and report back!!!!

Thanks.

I put a couple of tablespoons in the bowls and flush it down with a full bowl of water with no dwell time. I figure it will dissolve in the holding tank. Works great.
I am about to mix my own as I just depleted my Zaal. How do you guys mix the two ingredients so that the mixture is even or do you think it makes a big difference?

I have a grout mixer auger that goes into a drill…. I will use that in a bucket…. I have seen some on here use their wife’s blender…… I don’t recommend that…..especially if you take a chance to get caught

1) I don’t know that it will clear a clogged drain. I use it in my sinks to keep the hoses and sump clean. I just put a tablespoon out so in the drain and run a little water down.
2) For the toilet I simply add some to the bowl, then flush.
3) After the black water tank is emptied, I add a few tablespoons down the tank and also flush some. NEVER PUT OTHER CHEMICALS IN THE TANK OR STOOL. It will stop the powder from working.

I bought a 5lb and 10lb bag and then mix 1 cup to every 2 cups. Yes I use my wives kitchaid blender and then put into a ninja to really make it into a powder. Clean everything really well and never tell the wife. Lol

When I used the real NoFlex, I was putting it in the bowl and letting it dissolve some. I kept getting grit in-between the ball seal and ball itself which would cause the bowl to drain and suck air with the vacuum pump cycling. I haven't made any on my own yet, but wondered how the chemicals come and how big the grit is.

I would not survive being discovered putting that in our ninja! :)

I use 2 five gallon homer buckets and 1 cover, but I do a total of 15 pounds of material. I just do partial batches in the right proportion in one bucket with the cover - add stuff, install cover and roll it end for end for a few times. As the stuff is mixed I just dump the batch into the second bucket and do the next. When I'm done the now full second bucket gets the cover and becomes the storage bucket that goes to the dock box for the season. Using the covers to mix keeps the dust down.

Yes, if you put it in the bowl/water and flush right away, it will prevent the ball from sealing all the way and it will leak down and suck air. On Sunday or when we leave, I open the ball and dump a tablespoon directly in the hole. Close the ball, let the water enter the bowl and then put another tablespoon in the water and leave it until next trip.

Reminded me I need to make some up...ordered.

One of the chemicals is more powder vs other more granular. I mixed up in mason jars 2 to 1 cup. I also did grind up more in the blender for each jar. I nearly made 6 jars of the stuff. I’m good for a few seasons

I'm in Canada so everything is always that much more difficult. I found a site that delivers to Canada, but I am by no means a scientist. Are the 2 links below the ingredients I need?
I just don't know if there are like different types orrr....

Going to buy 2kg sodium percarbonate & 1kg sodium carbonate. Is that enough to make a couple batches or should I buy more?

+1 to opening the ball. I pour a couple of scoops in the hole while the toilet is flushing and never had a problem with grit on the seal.

You should get about 6-bottles of what you would normally buy from 3kg at 16.8oz per bottle.

I can get away with putting it directly in my bowls and flushing since I have electric toilets with macerators and not vacu flush toilets with ball valves and seals.
I will use my Cuisinart food processor to blend a few cups at a time. Lucky for me my wife probably doesn't even know what one looks like let alone being concerned what I do with it.:)
