Caulk at bottom of windshield 2010 450

Exactly LD,
is there any kind of chemical prep that would aid in the adhesion?

For me, it's more aesthetics, functionally I'm fine. Not looking to create a problem

I have done a lot of caulking and started following Dennis' instructions early on and they have never failed me. I use blue painters tape above and below, use LifeSeal, and smooth with a finger dipped in alcohol. It takes longer to tape it than anything. Wait 5-10mins and remove the tape. Professional results everytime.

Chemical prep... no, nothing special to do. Regular alcohol would work - even acetone. You just want to clean the surface. You can buy either of those at HD or Lowes for cheap. Wipe the area with a rag and that's about it.

Just had mine re-done but went to black... better than white

I will take some this weekend. Definitely made it look better. Especially around the glass. For sure the way to go.

Found these

To each his own, but I'd go for the black, as well. I think it blends in better. Besides, white doesn't always stay white and black can't really get any dirtier/blacker...

My caulk guy talked me into it and couldn't be happier. As said, white never stays white. Caulking is one thing I just don't have the patience for... I paid $500 to redo all the front and side windows and well worth it.

I wish I had a caulk guy :(..... I don’t even have a grass cutting guy ....and just today we fired our fertilizer guy...

I think it would be cheaper for me to fly your caulk guy to NY!
Geeesh $500!!

I have patience but not a steady hand. My detailer is doing it all for me. Just trying to figure type and color for him to go with. The windshield with such a gap just isn’t your usual caulk job. But I am considering black now, although in Michigan we don’t when the humidity and mildew issue you guys have in the south. Once I get it caulked it will last for many seasons.

Morning Grant,
Would you happen to know what material your caulk guy used?

@Shaps after some research it looks like sikaflex is what sea ray used. I called sikaflex and they recommend sikaflex 295 UV. Looks like that’s what I’m gonna use. Installer will be doing next Saturday and I’ll take some pictures.

I believe you are correct with that, Richey. If you can't get your hands on that stuff, the BoatLife products or 3M4000UV would work equally as well.
