...as I said in one of your other posts, "get rid of the fan". It doesn't belong in the engine bay and you're putting yourself at risk, regardless of how great it works now. It's a 110V device in an engine bay. It is not ignition protected and I'm sure next it's plugged into an outlet in the engine bay, another no-no.
This is true!!! Over the years here I have seen the wreckage of 2 vessels that didn't utilize marine app spark arresting materials in the bilge. Both blew up!! Some serious casualties too, but fortunately no deaths!!
This is not limited to the 110vac circuit either. Make sure to use marine alternators & starters, etc..

Wish2fish,
I heard the Billy Joel, did I miss the John Mellancamp?? If so I think I need to go clean my ears!!

You do realize that the fan can cause a spark right? Additionally, a little trivia here, gas fumes can be present even when an engine is not running....gasp! So by using something in the bilge that is not ignition protected, such as a fan, inverter, toaster, you run the very real risk of what is shown in the post above.

Sea Ray put a fan in the boat to help get rid of fumes, it's called a blower. Dump the electric fan before you get your beautiful boat a front page spot in the newspaper.

Well it works and I do have a thing called a blower I have 3 of them 2-in the engine room and 1-is my wife:lol::lol::lol:. If I make the front page of the paper I guess I'll out with a bang. Thanks for your thoughts.:smt021:smt021:smt021:smt021:smt021

Again:huh::huh:, as the fan goes:smt101 it's only used while AT THE DOCK only:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:. 1.used when docked:thumbsup: 2.used for 1hour while docked:thumbsup: 3.fan on a breaker :thumbsup:4.been doing this for years with no problem from Mr.Sparky:thumbsup: 5.keeps moisture out, trust me:smt013

^^^ +2.

I'd like to see a pic of ALL this moisture you have in there. :smt101

My engine bay is dry as the sierra desert. :smt001

Holy **** is this a ****iing pissing match or what, come on already. Look bottom line I'll do what I want, and when I want. This conversation is over as far as I am concerned about the blower setup, Peace already WTF.

You seem to like projects... well here's another one. If you really want a fan maybe you could rig up an engine room blower set-up on a timer or something like that?
I know what you mean about the dampness... if it's foggy in the bay here... everything gets wet... period.
When I was in open moorage I used these 'Dry-z-air' units during the winter months. They're cheap, safe and they work really well.
Cheers :smt001

That's a good idea, I like that.. Thank you:grin::grin: The timer deal isn't a bad thought.

WTF.. There are good people out there, then you get your ****ing ******* mother ****ers that piss me the **** off. Yes I'm going off, but not crying. Didn't you read my last ****ing post ...............END THE CONVERSATION ALREADY IS THIS A PISSING MATCH or what. These were all ideas I had came up with WTF.. Magster65 is the only one with his head on straight. So I will have a good life on my boat, the one thing I can say is the mother ****er is paid for unlike others here that just crawl up your ass with BS. PEACE 2-ALL, AATRCKMMFA.

WOW, I think he is upset. So much for fans in the ER.

Mike

What's the deal, a guy comes here to show off his handy work and everyone goes nuts over a fan???? Yes the fan is a no-no. I think he got that.

I want to see more mods being done on boats and yes I want to work and operate safely but seriously get over your selves.

You destroy the every integrity of this thread you try to save with your pissing contests. Take the thread for what it is, mention any safety issues and move on.

4 pages over a fan and drill motor…….PLEASE…………..

"Look bottom line I'll do what I want, and when I want."

I agree that that we should move on ... far, far away from his boat!!

If he opts to take a chance on blowing up his boat and others around him, we should all respect his decision and not be so nit-picky about trivial things like installing a table fan in an engine room.

Whatever were we thinking about? Should we be drawing the line at pointing out potential safety issues to our fellow CSR members and just stick to offering advice and solutions about other boating issues??

WOW if I posted a reply like post #36. :wow: . :wow: . I'd be in the timeout room in a heartbeat . :smt021

What does AATRCKMMFA stand for?

Don't worry my friend Wayne, we have senior citizen exemptions on this forum...

I never said that it was a trival matter but do we need 4 pages to keep piling on?
He either gets it or doesn't that's all I'm saying.
