This is true!!! Over the years here I have seen the wreckage of 2 vessels that didn't utilize marine app spark arresting materials in the bilge. Both blew up!! Some serious casualties too, but fortunately no deaths!!...as I said in one of your other posts, "get rid of the fan". It doesn't belong in the engine bay and you're putting yourself at risk, regardless of how great it works now. It's a 110V device in an engine bay. It is not ignition protected and I'm sure next it's plugged into an outlet in the engine bay, another no-no.
This is not limited to the 110vac circuit either. Make sure to use marine alternators & starters, etc..
