Currently boatless but considering a 98-04 Sundancer 24-28'. What should I look out for when considering a used Sundancer/common issues to look for? Also, I have a 2003 280 for sale local to me. Seems well cared for with twin 4.3's, radar arch, cushions/carpet in good shape. However it doesn't come with any canvas. How much is canvas and frames and best place/prices to purchase if I decide this is the boat for me?

    Many thanks!
    Rob

I have a 2003 360. I had all new canvas including stainless tubing and extended camper back for about $6k. That included strataglass upgrade from standard eisenglass

I second the 5-6K price tag. We had our canvas re-done on our 320 2 yrs ago before we sold it. As for who to use, besides great lakes boats as Jim said, we have no clue where you are :)

    You're already getting close on price range....check out a 99-02 340DA!!! It's the boat you'll want after a couple years on the 280 :)

My two cents on canvas - get a boat with a set of canvas that has some life left in it. New canvas is a big check to write after buying a boat.

I can get you specifics for any of the boat canvas if you like. My company is a distributor for Great Lakes as well as a site sponsor (www.covemarine.com). You can feel free to call me if you like to get a rough idea. We can provide full canvas and frames as required. It may not be as bad as you think.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Considerations should include Generator, AC, which engines and drives?

Look at the actual overall length and beam. 24-28’ range will leave a huge difference in a day boat or weekend boat.

    They're asking $26k

Will be docked at my house in season and likely dry-stored in a marina off season. Don't believe it comes with a trailer. Mostly bay, ICWW with some ocean duty.

Seems like a good price, depending on drive conditions / saltwater issues.

To support what Stee6043 says, dont discount a larger, maybe older boat. When we were shopping Sundancers, i was looking in the 24-26 range. We ended up with a 2005 280DA, thinking this was the hugest friggin boat I'd ever want. The joke of it all, is that as our priorities changed, we outgrew the boat at every turn.......we jumped to the 40 sedan bridge and could not be happier.

I think what makes the 320, 330, 340 size/model Sundancer a great contender is a wide beam. IMO that is what makes staying on the boat, for any extended time, a key requirement.

    Good luck!

Are there any 290 DA's in your area?
