Cruisair Fan Does Not Blow

I got the part... I had it delivered to Skip's house and drove up there and picked it up. This one, however, does not make the grinding noise as the blades are turned.

I think I'll probably take the motor off the old one and have it rebuilt and put it back together as a spare. It looks like a these blower assemblies are the same and since I have 5 of them, I'm sure this won't be the last time this happens.

Laying here in the forward stateroom of my boat right now with the AC blowing and all of the sudden my wife says "whats that noise" I just realized that when the fan is at about 1/2 speed it is making a loud vibrating noise. I took the fan off auto mode and put it on high speed and the noise went away. It also goes away on the lowest speed. But in the auto mode at 1/2 speed it is noisy. I noticed the same with the aft unit earlier today. Sounds like I may have some motor work in my future too...

I don't know as I'm not an electrical motor guy. I assume it's either the brushes or bearings but those can be replaced by a motor shop I assume.

The part from Cruisair was $300 (ouch) so fixing this blower unit as a spare seems like a better/cheaper way to handle the next failure.

Put the new blower assembly in this morning. There was a dangling green wire in the wiring harness with a connector on the end that was never hooked to the thing so I hooked that up to the blower like the others... guess someone forgot that at the factory.

Unit runs and cools great now. It is much quieter than the old unit so I'm sure the old one had an issue for some time.

J,
That noise be the bearings... its only goingto get worse.... ( over time ) ur going to need a plan ...

Gary can u post pics and info on the motor . Frame, rpm , hp, and picture of the mounting bracket ( how it bolts to the housing ) and the shaft length...

Ill try get standard motor to replace it ...
