CSR Lake Erie Islands 2014 Rendezvous (Paper District Marina Sandusky)

Plaining on being there coming up Friday after noon pulling out Saturday evening maybe Sunday to early to tell.

Ken Tibbitts plus one 23 foot weekender

Sorry, just read this. We will be staying on MBI for Christmas in July that weekend. Raise a couple for me & I will do the same for you all ;>)

shannon and i will not be able to make it by boat most likely this year as we are selling the carver and getting ready to get a bigger house. we still may be able to make it and maybe bring some jetskis

Randy, will do enjoy the bay,

Adam, Best of luck with the boat and house. Stop by car if you'd like it's easy to get to.

Everyone else... Keep an eye open as I will be updating information about booking the slips in the next week or so....

Fantastic. I talked to the marina today. They are not requiring that we put down a deposit for the docks and we just pay when we get there. We have 6 50 amp service docks for larger boats and 12 30 amp docks. We also have no other groups on that weekend so we can spill over if need be.

Looks like everything is moving forward. We will have a some of very nice gifts to raffle off in addition to the welcome bag for all attendees.

Are we still planning the pot luck for Saturday? Are there grills available at the marina? If not, let me know and I'll see if the Weber kettle grill can fit into the back of the truck.

Just a reminder to those of us with smaller boats on trailers that there is a launch ramp less than a mile from the Paper District Marina. We will be in the somewhat protected waters of Sandusky Bay. Plenty to see or do even if you just come up for the day.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting new friends!

let me know how many are attending I have a product o donate to the hand out out bags.

Yes, I hope to have a Pot Luck on Saturday, I do not believe that last time I was there that they had open grills. I will be in Sandusky on Sunday and I will swing by and Check it out and Report back... Stay tuned...

Alex or Jason,

How far is the ride to the Paper District from the boat ramp by Alex's marina? Is there any advice on "watch outs" or hazards that I should be aware of? I do have a good chart of the lake and a Garmin 536. I haven't traveled to the Paper District at all in my past boating on Lake Erie.

Jim,

I would say its a 25-30 minute ride over from mazurik boat ramp. I've never been there myself either so I'm hoping to hear from the Sandusky area guys for any hazards to look out for.

Jim,

There is a boat ramp practically next door to the Paper District Marina if you want to drive to Sandusky. This would also be an option if the wind has Lake Erie kicked up (what's the odds of that!!). The address of the ramp is 101 Shelby Street, Sandusky, OH if you want to Google Map it.

Here is a link as well - http://marinas.com/view/marina/7409_Shelby_Street_Public_Boat_Ramp_Sandusky_OH_United_States

When you look at the first picture in the above link, Paper District is to the left, less than a mile.

That is a great place to launch. Four really nice ramps and this year they are not charging a fee due to lack of personnel. If the lake kicked up during your stay you will be real close. You will have access to your vehicle too. The food at that little place at the marina is awesome.

Dempsey Ramp is a free State launch inside the Bay near Johnsons Island and would be a simple ride across the Bay to the channel near the coal docks. The Sandusky City ramp is within walking distance from the Paper District Marina and is sheltered from the Bay with a break wall. The main hazard in the Bay is the sandbar off Bay Point. If you stay in the marked channel you will have no problem.

Thanks guys!! I will check it out. I remember the ride back in last year on Sunday was a little rough.

Jim, The launch ramp is within walking distance of the marina. I don't think you should have to deal with bad weather... Fingers Crossed!

~~~UPDATE~~~
OK, Guys and Gals,
We are getting closer to getting together again, I stopped by the marina last Saturday to make sure that they would have everything that we need for the weekend. They have two piers with docks on each pier. They have a 50 amp (40' docks) and a 30 amp piers.
How many people can use the 50 amp side?
Here's the layout...
I have the splitter so I can take the 50 amp side no problem. The marina does not have the adapters available for use so keep this in mind. If we have people just stopping by for the day and they don't need power this is also a great spot for you guys to tie up.
Second thing. As I was walking around checking out the arrangements I see that they no longer have an open seating area for groups as they now have an onsite food spot and the tables and such are for them.
What they do have is a tent area with power hook ups.
I have 4 8' tables and 20 chairs lined up for our use in the tent area. I have a few bag chairs and such that we carry with us so I believe we will have enough room for everyone and I think we will make it work (hey we are all boaters it's what we do)
They do not have grills of any kind for use. I don't know if a couple people have the portables or not that they would like to bring along or if its even an issue. Talk it out here and let me know.
I'm looking forward to seeing everyone very soon!:thumbsup:
Here's a few more pics for good measure...
Since we will be pulling the boat up, we will plan on bringing our Weber 22" Kettle Grill and charcoal. It can be the CSR community grill for the weekend. I'll also throw in a couple of extension cords and power strips for crock pots, blenders and other appliances you big boat guys have!!.
Jason and/or Alex - As we get closer please update the number of attendees. We want to make sure we have an adequate supply of Welcome Bags. The recreational marine industry vendors/manufacturers have been very generous this year. In addition to the welcome bags, we have a couple of very, very nice gifts that will be raffled off.
Look forward to seeing everyone!!
