CSR Northeast Flotilla 2013

Todd - good luck, and thanks to this thread for reminding me why I took my boat out of the great south prison (bay) for good!! Maybe I will stop by treasure cove in the dink and say hello when you are there.

Thanks Russ. No more GSB for you? I thought you were coming back next season. Do you live out east? I'd love to get a spot on the Peconic for a year but I don't want to do the drive out there everytime I want to use (or work on) my boat! We should exchange numbers and I'll text you when we are heading out that way!

Todd - yes, this was a " see how we like it" season. But as of now we are having a great time using the boat seeing new places and having a true full service marina with a pool, rest, bar etc. add that to clean deep water and I think we will be staying east for some time. For me the car ride was a half hour to ptchg, so it's only another 25 minutes for me (I was never able to just hop down to the boat). We have hit greenport, shelter and montauk so far this season - I am not saying we don't miss the ocean beach and some of our friends at FI, but we will hit Davis for a week at my in laws to get our fix of that. But for really using the boat the way it should be used (not just a floating house I moved 3.5 miles each weekend) what we have now is fantastic. I will pm you my cell.

Russ,
I totally get what your saying. That big beautiful boat of yours really should be moving around some. The marina sounds great too!
If I ever step up I may have to spend a season out there to check it out! It also takes me 30 minutes to get to the boat so when you put it in that perspective I guess it's not that much more. I don't have family with a beach house so the lack of ocean beach visits would definitely be a negative for me, especially with how much the kids love it! I'm glad it's all working out for you guys! I'm gonna shoot you a text now so you have my number!

Hey guys,

Couple of quick questions for discussion:
1. Departure time - What do you think is a good time to depart from the ports (SI, BI, NPT)? I'd say we should aim for 8:30am-9am. Any objections and/or other suggestions?

2. Generators - in recent offline discussion a good question came up regarding running GAS generators while rafted overnight. Here's my take on this. If the weather is nice and there's nice breeze to cool off the cabins to provide enough comfort without running generators, then it might be easier. However, let's plan for the scenario where any vessel will run the generators for one reason or another. I'm putting together a quick guide to cover major items and events and the use of generators will be covered in there as well. In the meantime the question is, does anyone have a problem having GAS boat nearby with their generator running overnight? If yes, then please speak up and let's address the issue well in advance.

Just as a reminder, we'll be having 2 rafts. The largest one in Shelter Island (1 night), the 2nd one in Block for 3 nights.

BTW, if anyone has any points to discuss, please don't be shy, feel free to post them or just PM or email me.

Alex,

I will be coming with my two boys (10 & 6) from Mystic and so will be mostly single handed. I do not have prior rafting experience and would be nice if folks can help us tie up to the raft. Are there any better ways or no-nos on rafting etiquette? I have 5 large fenders for the boat. Will that suffice?
Also, what is a good time to arrive at Shelter Island?

Hello gentlemen, I'm back! I would like to jump in here at the last hour, if no one objects. Looks like we are in for Shelter and Block and maybe Newport if there is dock space. What is needed for food Alex? You probably remember the boat, '' Debtfinder '' and the rest - although there is a new addition, Shari. I hope all are well and I look forward to catching up with all of you.

Hey Russ,

Great to hear from you. Glad you'll be able to make it. Now we can have a party...

(Just don't get a head start on me)

Haha one more for rhe da count. Joes loosing. . Hopefully I get my alternator issues squared away tomorrow and (cross my fingers knock on wood and praying) nothing else breaks before now and the trip so im comfortable making it because right now im not.
As for the gennys not sure if this will work but why don't the deisel boats run at night and let the gas plug in just to run the ac and charger and let the gas guys run the deisels durring the day? Like I said may be a bad idea but hey its better than no idea....maybe
