Sheesh they are proud of the updates.Orlando, looking at the new chart scheme, I'm not sure if it's good or bad. Looks like a little larger coverage area per chart (entire east coast vice just mid-atlantic) and continuous update instead of one-and-done. Price is $250 versus $230 for my previous Vision chart annual cost. There's time available to evaluate before I need to decide.
Anyhow unless (at least in my boat) the Garmin can integrate the Smartcraft fuel flow from the engine ECM's (NMEA 2000 data from the VV7) the calculations will be approximate at best which won't do for travel to the Abaco for me. Or install the expensive fuel flow systems.
What I don't know is if the VV7 translates the fuel flow data onto NMEA 2000. It does the fuel levels. I've never really looked for the data on the Maretron DSM410s. Maybe when I next go to the boat I'll look to see if Maretron has a fuel flow feature and then if the data is available.
