Hello everyone,

I would like to know if you could please tell me the differences of the two boats? I know the length, diesel engines, and price are a few. Also is the bigger boat worth the extra money?

We are asked for boat comparisons from time to time and what happens is that you get the big differences, like one head vs. 2 heads and some joker will tell you "three feet". The truth of the matter is that there are a lot of subtle differences that make a big difference in how much you enjoy a boat. For example, if a stainless windshield frame is an option on one and not on the other, its helpful to know because long term, the non-stainless frame is going to need to be refinished. The best way for you to answer your questions is to get your hands on Sea Ray itemized spec sheets for the models in question. You can do that by the following:

-go to SeaRay.com
-click on Customer Support at the top of the page
-select 'model archives'
-click on 'select a mode'
-click on '36-50ft.'
-click on '370DA-----specsheet'

then print it.

Now, do the same thing over again and this time instead of the 370DA, slect:

"400DA----specsheet"

Print it and you can compare not only the differences but you can see what options any boat you are considering may or may not have.

I am familiar with both boats and the size , obviously, is the key difference. The 370DA with diesels has some tight spots for maintenance, like you may have to unbolt the generator and slide it out to access the water pump. The 400DA with diesels is tight between the engines due to the hatch actuator. Both boats are great designs, both run well and handle extremely well, both are decent sea boats and both are very forgiving when it comes to handling in tight places. You won't make a mistake with either boat.

Are you looking at a particular year model? How do you plan to use the boat. How many people will be using the boat? Gas or diesel?

Not only are there differences between the 370 and the 400, but there are differences in the 370 model from year to year. (Don't know much about the 400.) I decided on the 370 range early on in my search and accumulated a lot of information on them, much of which is on the 370sundancer site. Compare a '95 370 to a "99 370 and there are many differences in the creature comforts. And then there's those recent "370s". I'm sure there also differences between early and later 400s as well.

I'm leaning towards the 1998/99 diesel version of the 370DA. When I am home in Miami from working in Afghanistan, I plan on using it mostly as a party boat or weekender. That's including taking her out to the sandbars for lunch or maybe dinner with friends. The needed bed for the Captain and his lady sailor :)

The pdfs are unreadable.

What do you mean? I can read them just fine for the 98-99 model years. Are you asking for other people to do your research and tell you which boat to buy? I think Frank gave you a pretty solid answer and it's up to you to do the research to see what works for you.

They are blurry for some reason on my computer. Tonka, you need to slow it down.
