Hi!

Does anybody know another 260 overnighter owner?

Thank you.

Hi..
First time I hear of anyone with an overnighter on this site.. Sweet.. I have a 1993 240 Overnighter with 7.4L mercuiser...

Hi guys, I'm the proud new owner of a perfect 94 240 overnighter signature series w/7.4-bravo drive. Only 290 hours, special ordered by the original owner; shore power,fridge/stove,pump out potty, trim tabs,hot/cold H2O at sink and transom shower, camper canvas and original Classic trailer that looks brand new. I added polished diamond plate to 5 places on the trailer and added a spare carrier with a diamond plate cover, really adds to the trailer. This is our first boat and our last one to. We only bought it in June and it allready works perfecty. We stayed on it over the 4th and it was flawless. We want to get on Lake Michigan and travel down from ludington to douglas for Labor Day. Now that I'm retired we are gonna spend a great deal of time on our boat and we know that it will probably last us till we're through boating. Got a good tip on a blown dimmer switch from one of the guys here, west marine has a rotory 3 wire switch that can be spliced to our wiring w/plug and will fit our knob. Glad to be the class of the field when we're out with my wifes brothers who own crownlines and a 4 winns. I love our boat and so do a lot of people, get great compliments all the time. Great to be here, DAN

Well heck guys where have you been hiding? I have been looking for the overnighter crowd too. Nice to see more of us on here

So overnighters..:smt038

Lets talk performance.. Maybe I should start a thread about this but was wondering what kind of power you guys are getting from your 454.. I just recently bought mine about 4 months ago.. I have not had the chance of really testing the full excitment and power of the big block.. Reason being that my boat is not running to its fullest.. I am only getting a top speed of 26 knots and 3800 RPM..:smt009
Going to try to have the carb clean soon and see if that helps.. So what are you guys running?

I had ours wide open, trimed up to 4200 and got to 45mph on burt lake over the 4th. We crusied for miles like that but that was all we had, 2 adults,3/4 tank of gas, weekend staying stuff, etc. DAN

liftedvanman how you do in gas having it wide open??
I get about 10 miles with 20 gallons... Thing is a dragon..:smt021

I had over 800 hours on mine at the end of last year. So I freshened up the top end. New valves, beehive springs and roller rockers. Flow tested and cleaned the injectors and entire fuel system. New mech fuel pump. Plus the regular service. Best I have seen is 58 mph by gps. And the speedo read 53. These are heavy. Oats so they do use a bit of fuel. My buddy with a 5.7 bravo 3 on his 220 sundeck, doesn't do any better on fuel tho

Well I needed two new carburetors as my fuel tank was always empty! :) My boat had the old Sea Ray originals still in, 4 wholes one like the other and fuel was running through like water.
I bought two new Edelbrock with two slime wholes and two bigger at the end, also a plate for performance, and now, with two engines and driving cruise speed, and not too fast, I get along 1 week with a 380 liter tank. 3 hours of driving each day.

Gosh, I think I get pretty good fuel economy,we ran up and down burt lake, 13-14 miles round trip, for two days 4-5 hours a day and I think I used 25-28 gallons, but I'm new to the boat thing,so one of you guys will have to set me straight too, DAN

Dan,

I think it's normal if you are running a new boat that you want to drive faster and not take care about savingg fuel. Take your time and you will change your way of driving! ;-)

i have a 1980 260 /350 260hp and when i got it --it came with all records from day one --i never have checked the fuel consumption--it has a 100 gal. tank, and i always keep it at least 1/2 full --that is for columbia river use--now when i head out of newport or. i fill it --max i useally go out is 25 miles, and when i come in it's used about 25 gal. witch seems fair to me --i might drive a little different then others though--i bring boat up on plane ,then set tach at 3200,and thats where it stays--i was taught when i was young --that if your boating ,and you need to be their quick--trade the boat for a plane--

I have a 1995 240 Overnighter Signature Series and have e mailed and posted with fire rooster on a few occasions....you'll love your overnighter...my fiance and I certainly love ours.

Best of luck to you liftedvanman....you'll enjoy the power the 454 produces once you get things straightened out. Our boat doesn't have all of the extras like yours...only has the trim tabs, pump out head, and sink...no fridge or stove.

After seeing what Firerooster has done with his...I'm inspired to customize mine a bit also.

Jughead,

Hey buddy how are ya? You get my message on your profile page? How is the boat running? Summer been good to ya. Where are your oat pics???!!!!

What up Rooster? Summer has been good so far. Boat is running like a monster right now.....after new manifolds were put on and plugs changed.

Photos will be posted shortly. I was looking at some lighting options similar to your set up.

Sweet! Glad to hear all is well and running good. Cool, I dig lights!
