+1 On that. We have the 2011 Lexus RX 450h and absolutely love it. We're at 60k and haven't done a thing to it. It's also a hybrid so the brakes last longer then most cars. As much as I love the Mercedes styling, I side with Lexus. Best of luck with the repair!

I'm not knocking Lexus but it's just a rebadged Toyota Great cars still the same . my Benz came with 100k mile warranty and I've never had a recall.mine and my wife's run like watches. I'd take a Benz over any Chevy or Ford (for luxury, and comfort) any day.
when we go in for oil changes they wash the cars, vacuum them and feed you. Ford and Chevy treat you like you stole the car I almost had a fist fight with a dodge dealer yrs ago. Mercedes sent a chocolate cake and painted art work to my house after the purchase, they also sent a cake over seas to a servicemen in my name!!! What American car company does that?

A couple comments. I would agree that certain Lexus models are very similar to Toyota, but the RX 450h is unique to the brand and we like it for that. We were looking into the newly-redesigned M-Class diesel, but reliability just doesn't compare (dangit).

Also, you can't compare american cars like Dodge, Chevy, and Ford to a Mercedes. They're a totally different in terms of cost and class.

We bought a brand new Benz in 2002, I think it was approximately three years after Benz bought Chrysler, and they had no idea of the cost it would take to bring Chrysler upto European standards and consequently the Benz line suffered. I loved the look of the car and color but thank goodness we took out extra warranty that took it to 100,000 miles as it was in and out of the dealership like a fiddler's elbow! We had generally owned a Benz in the UK, mostly diesels, which were great, but this one truly sucked! The final straw was when it broke down in 2010 on one of our major local roads and I had to get out and push it to the side of the road! Who ever heard of having to push a Benz! The next week it was fixed, yet again and sold forthwith. Needless to say we did not buy another! Understand they may be better now that Benz sold Chrysler for a buck and are back concentrating on them, just wish they would make their seats a bit more comfy, tad hard in our opinion. We really loved them until that experience. Good luck in getting yours fixed:)

My buddy's wife has a 2002 c class that has never been to the dealer. And wife's friend has aRX 450H that has had more batteries than gas, so,,, we all have our problems it's just who has the least??? Our Mercedes diesel sprinters at work are workhorses.
I guess we could all argue this point. Let's hope he gets it straightened out !!!!

I am curious what you guys as paying for a "D" service. My '10 GL450 is going in this Wed and they told my wife it is $1,000. Is that the same service mentioned above for $695?

Not really......some models bear a similarity, but many do not. I've got an LS and an SC and nothing in the Toyota line up is close to either. I've also got an LX which is a Landcruiser with better trim and better leather that seems bullet proof. I've had 5 Lexus vehicles and have never had a repair more serious than a dead battery. We all have our preferences and favorites........we've had Mercedes, BMW, Acura and Infinity cars, and Lexus just works best for me.

When you call it just a rebadged Toyota it sounds like a knock to me.

Same frames .motors electrical harness' ok it's a high priced Toyota happy?
we looked at Lexus for the wife .also Audi, bmw etc. we just think the quality of luxury and the ride of her E class was far above any of the others.

I agree with you. i just traded in my GX470 for a GL450. The Mercedes is much more refined. Not thrilled with the service department at the Mercedes dealership on the one warrnanty issue I had so far. I hope they were just having a bad day.
