Years ago I ordered something inoccuous from the mail order or online sales area on THT. They periodically send emails to previous customers referring you to threads on their forum. I got one today where one of their idiot experts (or expert idiots, which ever fits) was advocating building your own stabilizer.
Sea Ray used 2 Seakeeper Gyro stabilizers in the L650. They have a rotating stator inside them that work on the same principle as a kid's top spinning only the Seakeeper makes the boat run level as it removes up to 90% of the boats motion in moderate seas. They really work......it takes about 40 minutes for them to spool up to their 7,000 operating speed, they use a lot of current and you keep them locked until they reach the correct rpm.
Anyway, this THT guy's idea is to get a motorcycle wheel and fill the tire with antifreeze then spin it a few thousand rpm while it is anchored to his boat. Who knows if the idea has merit, but I do know I hope he tries it in a state other than the one I'm in.......I'm also glad he on not on CSR. It would be a full time job keeping all the new guys from trying his crazy ideas.
I dare you not to smile!
