Everyone out of the water?

Yep last minute too I had planned on trailering her home for the winter but my wife's drinking problem meant me not having time since I'm now a separated man with full responsibility for my 2 and 5 year old . I got don to the yard a couple weeks back to winterize the the motor and re system . Heading there today to tarp up for the winter thankfully .

Our policy is the same as many on here that it states that I am out of the water from December to March. I would have the option to stay in with additional rider on my policy. After this happened a few years ago at my boat club I have no issue with paying the extra money to haul out and shrink wrap. The crane is there to lift the collapsed roofs off of boats after a 26” very wet snow.

Nope, I and about 8 others stay in the water. We all worry about the wet snow but we also babysitte the docks. We remove all dock boxes and keep slips clear of ice using our own bubblers. County rarely does much to help in the winter months. Yes the dock does sink from the snows every now and then but as a team we work to clear snow and ice from the walkway and she has come back every time. We don't have the snows folks do up north of here, we are lucky.

Good day to be stored warm, dry and clean inside a sturdy building.

Yep, I was out 6 weeks or so ago

In a way I miss the snow. We only get an average of 3" per year and if you want to shovel you'd better hurry before it melts.

But there is something to be said for being out in the yard on Saturday with just a long sleeved t-shirt on while riding the lawn tractor to pick up the leaves. We have a HUGE willow tree in the back yard that has just begun to drop its leaves.

I pick them up off my yard and the yard behind me. He doesn't have a riding mower and I figure it's the "nice neighbor" thing to do. My tree puts the leaves there so I pick them up.

racer, I hope all that creaking and groaning was your boat on the trailer and not old bones and joints doing the creaking. I know mine do at times.

Something also to be said for a nice, crackling fire from perfectly seasoned Cherry wood and a good book. Fire smells good and puts out a lot of heat. Been through about a quarter cord so far.

LOL
Yeah that trailer makes a bit of a racket coming out with some weight on it. Oddly fun process though. I tend to take a few days off at the end of the season helping my marina owner pull and store boats. This was the first year I drove mine onto the trailer.

Yes, I agree, but there's also something to be said about not having to light the fire yet because it's still warm outside.

Just kidding. That is one beautiful fire in a beautiful fireplace. Nice way to spend a wintery afternoon. Here's to ya!

Reading this thread - realizing how much I like Florida in the winter.

Couple of years ago, dropped a tender tie down off the side of the swim platform - no prob. Got my mask, swim suit - slid down between the slip, below the boat, picked up the piece.

This was first week of January. Water was comfortable.

I believe the Eagles song lyrics go "every form of refuge has its price"...

I am always out, but I do winterize. Probably not necessary, but my marina closes weekends Dec 1 - Mar 1, so I just winterize it and put it up for those 3 months. They have some Bennington pontoons and Cobalt rental boats that I can use if I need a boat fix during the winter. I have a winter cover also.

Nice.

How long does it take to fill the marina back up? Is it dramatic watching the water flow in or does it happen so gradually that it slowly comes up?View attachment 62267
They start holding the water back April 1st... depending on the amount of snow we got in the mountains and rain events, it can rise the 77 feet in as little as 2 weeks. Our target date for starting is always around the 15th, but has sometimes stretched into May.

That is an amazing amount of water in a few weeks.
