Hi.... just started removing factory original raytheon radar 41xx. Before frustrating myself wondered if anyone knows whether Sea Ray always tywraps cables together making removal of cable(from arch to CRT) in one piece virtually impossible. Unit is sold and would prefer not to cut the 16 pin connector. any help appreciated, Tom

Unfortunately, there's only one way to find out. Just keep removing it. Mine was not tied down with the rest of the wiring so replacement was easy. I guess my boat was originally delivered without radar and someone added it over time.

Good luck!

I have often seen it done that way. The wiring is put in before the boat is even together on factory options so they are often all wire tied together like that. A new cable will be about $150.

Thanks, Jim....are those 1997 style cables still available?? just want to verify so I can give info to new owner who is aware of the possibility of replacing cable. And by the way thanks for delivery of new radar!

The removal is the reverse of the installation.

Turn off the power to the array and to the display. Mine uses two different fuses.

Start in the pedestal.

Loosen and lift, not remove, all four bolts.

Hold all four bolts up. They travel up and down about an inch once they are loose.

With the bolts up, rock the top half of the pedestal forward. It’s okay to have the array still attached.

Within the pedestal there is an in-line connector and two power wires. Loosen the screws retaining the power wires.

Unplug the in-line connector from the PCB. The connector needs to be removed from the wires. Use a jeweler’s screwdriver to depress the formed contact within the connector to open the jaw retaining the conductor. At the same time use your third hand to remove the wire from the connector body.

Repeat for all the conductors.

Remove the clamp retaining the cable shield to the pedestal housing.

Loosen the nut around the wire where it exits the housing to relax the seal gland.

The cable may now be removed from the pedestal.

It then may be pulled back to the display.
