Could anyone help me with statistics for this. Sea Ray can't offer any guidance and i can't find another thread that helps.

I have a 270 but will give you what I have found on mine. I have a 96 - so Vortec heads, 4 barrel intakes and Edelbrock 1409 carbs (originally Weber 9600's). I cruise at 3200RPMs which gives me approx 1-1.4 mpg at 28-31 MPH and a 20-25GPH burn. This is all 'guesstimates' as I don't have fuel flow meters but use the GPS for distance traveled and how many gallons I need in order to refuel.

Thats very useful. I have to bear in mind that US Gallons are different to UK gallons I think 12 US gallons is equivalant to 10 UK gallons. I am going over to France and Gas is quite difficult to get in some parts. Most engines here are diesel. Thanks for your help.

Going to be expensive to run that boat over there with gas prices as I understand them!

I have a '99 290 with the 4.3s. I cruise at about 3800 rpm at 27 mph. Anything less than 3700 or so and she starts to come off plane. Your '92 hull may perform slightly different. I got 1.2 mpg on a 600 mile trip down the Ohio from Pittsburgh last year. I believe I read somewhere Sea Ray rated them at 20 gph at cruise speed - I'm in that neighborhood. The 4.3s are adequate - I'd go for 350s if I had the choice on two identical boats. I believe their fuel burn is about the same due to lower cruising rpms. Hope this helps!

Thanks for that. If there are any others who could confirm this that would be great. Best i get this right before I set off on the English Channel, its one of the busiest sea lanes in the world. Not sure what difference the hull will make but i'll err on the side of caution. Gas is about $9.00 per gallon here!!

I have the same boat/same motors.

I get 1.3 GPM at around 30 mph/3400 rpm running 4 blade 14x19 props.

Bottom is perfectly clean because the boat is trailered.

No fuel meter; GPS distance divided by gallons to refill.
