Mine had a TUBE AM radio, 144 inch six, 2 speed automatic and vacuum wipers. 1962 Falcon Wagon. Drove that thing 100K+ miles. The radio and 2 speed were both replaced early on. The wipers worked better with the 3 speed, but still stopped when pulling away from a light.

Sounds like the vacuum accumulator was rusted out as they did.
