Galvanic current damage

change your zincs more often, both on your outdrives, trim tabs, and behind the prop. Also hang 1 or 2 zinc fish off the platform connected to your battery. Then have your boat checked out to make sure everything is grounded properly and that it's not your boat that's leaking current. If you don't stay on top of it, you'll be buying new drives very soon.

recommend using a hanging anode... See: http://www.boatzincs.com/hanging_anode_zinc.html

But what are my options to repair this damage? Do the parts have to be replaced or is there some other solution? Thanks

looks pretty bad to me, maybe it can be welded? You would have to ask your local shop this question.

Damage looks pretty bad to me too. I think that housing needs replacement. Does your boat have a Mercathode installed? I had one on my old 260 DA and never had a problem in 22 years. I also changed all of the zincs frequently.
Another thing you need to watch out for is neighbors boats leaking current. Yours may be fine but if your dockmate isn't you'll get just as much damage to your boat. There used to be an old scow in my marina before I came there. The guys tell me this clown lived on it all summer (dock queen) and had all sorts of electrical gerry rigs that damaged about 5 boats around him. He was promply kicked out.
