So few years back I installed a Garmin 741XS , an airmar b60, a new fusion stereo, and a GX2200 ship to shore. It seems that every year I loose functionality of my 741xs. 1st the water temp quite working. Then I noticed that my stereo does not show on the plotter unless I turn off the stereo or manually go below and turn it on and off. Now I notice that it no longer links and shows AIS like it did. What is going on with this thing. I have checked connections and such. I was instructed by Garmin to update the programming to try and solve the water temp issue and now I have noticed over time that we have this problem. I see that there is a new patch for this unit that I should upgrade to but dang. After reading about the airmar transducer I see that it is possibly a problem with the internals of this thing. What would you suggest I look at and Do? I may try to call Garmin next week and see what they can do for me too.

I've been temporarily burned by a few Garmin updates. One update for my 5212 made the the screen orientation swing 90° orientation west for 2 seconds every 20 seconds. That wasn't fun, but they quickly released another updated that fixed it. My Fusion stereo has only become a better device with updates.

I highly recommend applying all the available updates and see what happens and then asking Garmin for help.

Another thing to try is troubleshooting your NMEA2000 network by removing devices (and their T's) one at a time to see if reliability of the remaining devices improves.

I know the radio should be up to date. I'll update the plotter and see what's up.
