getting access to enclosed compartment in cabin 2006 sundancer 240

some update to this thread : we had on holidays no wet carpet until craning her out . during craning her out she hang around pretty bow low in the belts for some minutes until being put on the trailer and the carpet soacked wet after this.

so i have water subfloor which depending on the tilt wets the carpet from below for sure.

now i removed the lower tab screws and let her sit on the trailer as much tilted back as possible.

some water started to run below the fuel tank to the aft bilge , no water came out the tab mounts . i nevertheless resealed all screws on both tabs , will launch the boat on weekend and see.

i cannot say if / how much / where water is still trapped on the boat , you would never believe it is such hard to find out !

I'm way late to this conversation. Sorry.

I chased the wet carpet issue as you have, and found some of the same problems. The problem for me was the shower sump box. The float switch would not activate if the a/c was running draining the a/c pan slowly to the sump box. I'm sure you read my fix. I installed the 260da box, no more problems for me.
I believe there is a limber hole that runs between the engine room and the cabin forward bilge. It is small. If my memory serves me correctly, I discovered it by tilting my boat bow down on the trailer, and filling the engine room bilge with water. It weeps in just behind the shower sump box. The hole is SMALL, and can be overlooked easy. The water "weeps" in, not runs in. You could put dye in the water to confirm this, but I just tilted my trailer back, and the water stopped coming in. So, "I ASSUME there is a weep hole. My bilge stays dry, so I haven't worried about it.

As a side note, I'm wondering now, if there is a bigger issue. Meaning the inner bottom is full of water and thus adding weight. My boat has never gave me the performance numbers others have posted here. It has always struggled to get on plane. I have spent a lot of time and money chasing props. Currently I'm running a Hill Marine 4x4 set, custom tuned by Hill Marine.
This could explain my issue with sluggish performance....and my frustration with the handling of. Keep after it, we may learn something new.....and be just one more thing to add to my list of, "what the heck items" with this boat. lol

hey mike , thanks for your comments ! well, i chased the problem as good as i can , i would like to find a sure way to remove this water and close this problem.

unfortunetly i can say its subfloor water , its not the shower box pump.

one main problem is the boxed , enclosed design of the 2006 240da which should be sealed but is not - and you cannot inspect every corner there, you do not know if / how much hull water you carry.

further every boxed area is foamed , which gives great disadvantages when you get water there.

i hope i removed the water by severly tilting it backwards on a trailer (i put several bricks under the jockey wheel to get more tilt ) , i resealed the trimtabs and the fwd trailer hook , verified my portholes are tight , excluded the shower sump pump - anyway i will keep you informed !

if your carpet stays dry i do not think you have the subfloor full of water , since you have the same boat with the same engine / drive you could pm me and we could compare performance numbers ( but i run the oem 20 pitch props )

best regards !

I don't recall my performace numbers with the stock 3 blade, 20in pitch props. I do remember if I was full of gas, water, and had 4 people onboard, my boat would not get on plane unless I had two people go below and sit on the v berth. My first fix was to have a set of 20in pitch props repitched to 18.5in, by Murphys Props in Norfolk Va. But I couldn't run full throttle because I'd run out of rpm (5000), before I got to wide open throttle.
The 4x4 set does good. But my top speed is still only 36-37mph @47-4800rpm...with the bimini down. My cruise speed is about 26mph @36-3700rpm.
All I can say is oh well. The boat works good enough for me at this point. I'll keep using it till I don't.
Good luck with yours.
