Going to Destin FL in two weeks...

I just wanted to throw it out there, We are going to make our annual Family trip down to San Destin for a quick long weekend trip for the weekend of 8/14/-8/18. That's the weekend of the Emerald Coast Poker Run.

I'm seriously thinking of towing the jet ski (We R Driving from New Orleans) so we can take a tour of the waters in FL. but, I don't know where we can leave the ski when we are not using her. We probably will only use her 1-2 days, so I'm wondering if it's even worth bringing her down versus renting one when we get there.

Rental skis are notoriously very poorly maintained, plus liability concerns and insurance restrictions have most rental companies now limiting the area you can operate their skis in. Your best bet in NW Florida is to take your ski and trailer and find a public ramp to launch and retrieve it from the days you want to use it. Around SanDestin there isn't a lot to see from the water. You have to run roughly 12 miles of open bay to get to the Destin harbor, which would be more interesting.

I took mine a few years ago. Kept it in the parking lot when on trailer. Launched at the marina at the hotel. Lots of no wake and sea grass had to clean intake many times. You can launch by the harbor and explore crab island
