...concern about heat close to fuel tank vents.
The idea of having an open flame near the vent dampened my enthusiasm for grilling on the boat.
Agreed. No way I’m lighting a fire on a boat.
I am still looking for a good electric grill. It makes cooking in the marina more friendly than running up and back from the slip.
I would also like one that's able to be used with our generator running. The magma looks interesting but the reviews don't seem that good.
I like the Kenyon but they seem better suited for built-in use as the portable is designed for home use where you can't have an regular grill with a flame.
Any ideas?

That's what i was looking at. But it's hard to find quality reviews in it. BTW, how do you like the grill a mount?Look at the little electric Weber.
I’ve got a round Magma that I don’t like and I’m thinking along the lines of eventually replacing it with a Weber.
I like the idea of electric because no wind worries on our typically windy LI afternoons and we can use it at the dock at places like Tobay. I usually fire up the genny at meal time on the hook in Zack’s Bay anyway so we don’t really need a propane grill.
Now I’ve just got to get my tired old lazy a$$ motivated enough to run an electric receptacle back inside the trunk so I can use an electric grill with my Grill a Mount back on the swim platform....

How do you clean up all of the crud on the grill itself?I have had a couple of Magma's over the years. For me they just don't seem to last forever. My current is almost 2 years old, it was one of their less expensive options (180 or so). Basic grill, does not have push button lighting. I decided to not spend money for more expensive options - rather just replace when it got tired. Guessing I have another year or two before replacement.
We grill a lot. This serves the purpose.
I do have the bag, which I think it awesome. I keep spare propane in the bag with the grill. My situation I can't do the traditional rod holder mounting in the boat. No place that does not have a rail on top that I could do a traditional rod holder. Found a rod holder that attaches to the rail that works.
We grill upstairs on the area at the back of the Fly Bridge. I have a dock box secured to the floor which I store the grill in. Bag stays in the dock box, I take the grill out - cook, then put it back in the bag. Don't have any issues with drip or spatters.
