I have a 1988 Searay 30' Sundancer. I need replacement arms for the front hatch. Any suggestions where I can buy.
Thank you for any help.

Gas shocks? Sea Ray dealer, West Marine, Defender, etc. Just need to match length and pressure.

I think he is wanting the arms to the forward glass hatch, found above the main bed. I have found them at West Marine. But I try to keep all of those hens teeth parts, clean and working good.

His 1987 is probably like my 92. The only gas shock on the boat, is when you pull up to the pump to fill up.

Not sure if they used Taylor-Made hatches in '88, but my 85 25' Sundancer used them. Here is a link to the Taylor-Made website -

I ordered a new ultra arm and went to install it today. WHYYYYY did they rivet these damn arms into place? Any advice on how To replace these before I start drilling the old ones out.

Do I really need to pull the hatch out to service these arms?

On the trapezoidal hatches the feet are riveted through the frame. You will need to lift out the hatch to get to the outside of the frame. Because of this I am still putting mine off just did not get enough time last season. If motivated I may try to do it while I still have my winter cover on and it is protected.

Circling back to this. I had given up on replacing the one broken arm due to having to remove the entire hatch to replace it. meanwhile I left the new arm on my desk just because I enjoy giving myself anxiety about broken boat parts. Well I was fidgetting with it and realized that I could disassemble the new arm and completely rebuild it. Ran over to the boat and figured out that I could rebuild this arm while it’s attached to the hatch and was able to replace the broken locking mechanism. It’s a 5-10 min repair!

As long as the black body is unbroken everything else can be serviced without removing the hatch.
