Hug Your Pet Today

Jeff, sorry to hear about your loss. We too do not have kids so our pets mean everything to us. We lost 3 dogs in 1.5 years recently and it was difficult to say the least. 1 of the 3 was my first dog. He was definitely my boy. One died tragically to bloat and 2 died from cancer.

1 of the original 4 is still with us and we recently added a puppy after saying we never would. Our cat is 15+and has slowed down quite a bit.

I think about the ones that have gone almost daily..even have dreams about them. Hang in there man, remember the good times with them.

I cried like a baby when we had to put our first dog down. Like outliving a child, doesn't seem like the natural order of things...it helps if you ask yourself "did I give him/her a good life?" Just give them plenty of love and care...no regrets.

A big +1

Fetch - I looked it up, Nick was around 77 years old in human years. If I live to 77 it will be another miracle!

Uplate - Seals stick together, who ever did it will be served by the wrath of more than one of them!

Guys - Thanks a lot for the kind words. It is humbling to think how macho we think we are until something happens to a pet. Today, I AM A WIMP

I am pretty good at hiding my emotions, but like most here, I cried like crazy when ours past away.

1 of the 3 had to be put down, first time doing this for the Mrs and I and I thought I was going to throw up watching the process. In her case, she had cancer, she was real bad off, shaking, could not walk, etc. As soon as they gave her the first shoot, the one that makes them sleep, the one before the lethal shot, she stopped shaking, her little paw started jumping as she was dreaming/relaxing and we knew then it was the right decision.

I am sorry for your loss.

However, we have 2 cats, and frankly, cant wait until coyote season again.
