If you take vitamins/supplements - why?

If you take D3 you should also take K2. The K2 helps the calcium produced by D3 to be deposited correctly to the bones and prevent calcium build up in the blood vessels. D3 is a major factor in a strong immune system and should checked far more often than it is. If you D levels are below 20ng/ml you levels are too low. Ideally it should 30-40ng/ml.

Centrum - Just a multivitamin
Fish oil - Bordeline High Colesterol
Osteo Bi Flex w/Turmeric (anti inflamatory) - I'm 54 and my knees are 94
Knees...... One down, one to go.... Bi-flex doesn't do squat for bone on bone.

I hear you brother! I have been on this stuff for 25 years and swear by it. I started it after surgery on my left knee in my mid 30s. If I go off of it for a couple of days my kneesles acts up.

Uh huh, these conversations started a few years ago with my good friends who I have dinner with on a recurring basis. Colonoscopys, annual exams, aches and pains, who got sick with what, etc.

So, you might call it "an organ recital".

Agreed, I am almost there I think. Brother, 10 years older than me, had both of his knees replaced last year. I try to only play on clay tennis courts now as well, no hard courts.

After a weekend of climbing in/out of the boat I can barely walk on Monday.

Looks like I'll be adding K2 and Osteo Bi Flex. Thanks for the tips!

I am 100% bone on bone in both knees. If I kneel for even a short period of time there is a good chance one or both knees will lock up making standing up excruciatingly painful. Problem is when I am working on the boat I forget that I am not 30 anymore and I do stupid things like kneeling in the engine compartment for an hour or more at a time. Then, when I can't get up, I get the "I told you so" from the admiral. My kids are old enough to work on the boat and my youngest is a better wrench (and far better researcher and you tube watcher) than I am, so I should just turn it over. Orthopede told my 4 years ago that there wasn't much he could do for me, it is time for knee replacement on both. I don't like hospitals or surgeries, so that is a problem. Plus, if I wake up with no pain, I'll think I'm dead...

I guess the yearly blood work my Doctor does doesn't point to the need so I follow the blood work results. I asked my Doctor about all those things mentioned and he said all it would do was make expensive pee.

Yep, I get blood work twice a year and my doc tells me to keep doing what I'm doing (eating/activity). No need for any add'l meds or suppliments. Now the last time he told me to either increase activity or decrease caloric intake because I've put on weight over the last couple of years.

@Jus Cruisin like your new avatar pic! I'm sure it's a great feeling to have her in your slip finally!

I've been taking a collagen powder as well hoping it will help my joints feel better. I don't think it really is but it sure is helping my fingernails grow faster.
If your joints are bone on bone, nothing will help, I mean nothing. If one still has some cartilage then several things can help. Turmeric, as good an anti inflammatory as Advil and it has so many other benefits. Topical CBD cream on the knees a couple of times a day or at least before bed. The Costco joint health. All can be a big help.

I don't think I'm going on bone, yet. Been trying a magnesium spray that I rub in as well, don't think that's too much.

I used to be wary of all this, but then I realized that vitamins and supplements are great helpers for our bodies at any age. No matter how old you are now, you should take vitamins. Our bodies and bodies have a hard time adjusting to the many irritants and poisons we encounter every day in today's world. I'm 35, and I take RAD 140 every day to improve my health and increase my testosterone levels. Even though I wouldn't say I like it very much, I also take fish oil, vitamin D, and vitamin C to support certain body parts. This little kit makes me feel great. I wish everyone good health!

My bones have been hurting lately, and I'm hoping I can get some advice here on some vitamins for that.

I am 40 years old, and I have many problems due to my age. In the last few years, my health has deteriorated a lot. My bones began to hurt every night, and my muscles became weak. I think it's because of hard work and the lack of sports in my life. A month ago, I finally got tired of it and changed my daily schedule by adding exercise and taking vitamins. I started taking 20mg d8 gummies and going to the gym. After a month, I can say that my health is much better. I will order a couple more supplements that my friend recommended to me. When I start taking them, I will write about it.

One comment….I used to take 10mg of Lipitor for cholesterol. The entire time I dealt with muscle cramps like there was no tomorrow. Dr switched me to Crestor and same thing. Was reading one day and read where magnesium might help. Been taking 500mg of magnesium daily for 3-4 years and not ever another cramp….it works….

Osteo Bi-Flex has helped tremendously with my joint pain, I've been on it for about 15 years.

I think consuming vitamins is normal, especially for 52+ age, because usually, people lack some specific vitamins due to the area they are living in or their work type. The important thing about vitamins is that you shouldn't use multivitamins complexes because usually, these complexes have very low effectiveness. It is better to make a schedule and consume them in groups. For example, this month, you are consuming A+B vitamins, 1-month break, C+D complex, and go on. More details about the most effective schedule you can find on health-related sites like Healthcanal.

For those of you suffering from joint pain much of this is exacerbated by inflammation. The best thing you can do from time to time is to do a cleanse. Many of the toxins that cause inflammation are built up through diet, water, etc sit in the joints. By doing a cleanse your digestive and lymphatic system flushes those toxins out, inflammation is significantly reduced and your pain is significantly reduced. You can do an over the counter cleanse for gut, liver, etc. It absolutely works.

Regarding vitamins, I used to take 8-10 vitamins a night I've now restructured my supplement strategy and I have felt a difference pretty quickly.

All I take are Balance of Nature, probiotics, digestive enzymes, and a specialized amino acid cocktail that has an AAU of 99%. The most protein you can absorb (digest) from the best sources of protein like eggs, fish etc is in the 40%. That means you're excreting over half of the protein you consume. This deteriorates as you age and you actually are unable to digest proteins almost at all, this is one of the main reasons you lose muscle as you age. Also due to reduction in T and HGH but you can compensate for the hormonal decline by supplementing with amino acids.

I struggled with my workout routine 3x per week for the last 6 months to a year, I just couldn't recover to stay consistent on M-W-F lifting routine. I would wake up sore, stiff, tired, to the point I questioned why the hell I was working out, feeling tired all the time trying to recover.

As soon as I changed to micro nutrients (Balance of Nature) and added this amino acid cocktail I am now working out 4 days a week and next week I'm going to try to do 5 days per week.

I vary my workouts each session from circuit training, to heavy weight lifting with rest intervals, to pure cardio boxing workouts hitting the various bags which is brutal for cardio.

I still get sore but not as much but my energy levels are through the roof. My wife not so happy, but my girlfriend likes it. :D

I'm 62.
