Went on a nice boat trip downtown with 10-12 friends for Erics Birthday. Stayed in boat clothes for the lock-thru then changed when we got to the public dock downtown. New tall leather boots, tight jeans, sweater, cashmere scarf and boot socks..... I was a 10....seriously I was a 10!!!!. then eric says "put that small side canvas in before we leave the boat since the dogs are with us". Ok no big deal I'll just do it from the inside since I have my boots on and dont want to slip on the gunnel. Well, wouldnt you know it, I drop the canvas/isinglass piece. And of course it doesnt land on the gunnel,,,,,it goes in the water.
So I run and jump on the gunnel with the boat pole and try to push the piece back to the back of the boat. Nope, it starts to sink...NOOOOOOO. I friend is yelling at me"its not worth it" as I'm lying on the gunnel with one foot off the side of the boat and hanging by one arm trying to reach the insinglass. I'm yelling" I cant match this canvas!!" back and forth between us several times. The menfolk are tying the boat up on the other side. They have no idea anything is going on. About the time Tina yells for help- I go in(not on purpose). As I fall I know I have to get the isinglass, so I throw the boat pole and grab it. I get it and do a complete flip underwater. I come up in 62 degree water and immediatly began a one handed, boot soaked swim for my life toward the boat. I knew to concrentrate and swim fast because I would get tired soon with all that weight on me. Plus its always a fast current downtown at the docks. My buddies grabbed me out and took me downstairs to change. I was shaking so bad i couldnt grab anything. I had so much of an adrenaline rush I couldnt even tell you what temperature the water was.
It took three days to dry my phone out(still works), three coats of bear grease on my boots to get them back to life. So all in all we lost a boat pole.
I wound up changing into my old boat clothes and heading out with a wet head to the birthday dinner with Eric.
I put on my best smile and joked "I bet he didnt know he was getting a mermaid for his birthday". lol

So the trend I've noticed is every time I have fallen I have been completely sober.......well , there you go....
thats the problem!!

Can't claim a 10 without posting pics. It's a rule. Although I believe you.

Also, glad are ok after the dunk into the water.

Maybe you should start drinking.. Another thing. Other people fall in the water with their phones and they still work. I go in for less than 10 sec. and the phone's toast.

I am impressed! My women folk would have let it sink (or just looked at me like "its your fault for making me put on the isinglass to begin with"). And to sacrifice your hair :)

Hat's off to you!!!!

Canvas/eisenglass by weight, is probably worth more than gold.

62 degree water?? Really?? You guys in TN are getting soft! Last day for us in the water was for our "Underwater Pumpkin Carving" contest in Greenwood Lake, NY. We were in 63 degree water drinking cold beers for two hours! No wet suits, unless you were down carving one up. J/K...! Glad you and yer phone were OK.

Post in the water pics please?

Lakegirl, your picture is not required by me. Your story and reaction abilities have already hit a solid 10 from where I am sitting.

Sounds like your priorities are in order. :). Glad you're OK and imagine doing that in Alaska. Even here it's 48 degrees in the winter. Summer it's a balmy 54. 62 is like a bath.

I found the shot of her. I did have to choose one that isn't too revealing though...

Lakegirl, I'm proud to call you my "dock mate". Eric too, although you are the hero here!!!

Sue and I saw your SUV on Sunday, but knew you were out of the slip. Sorry we missed you and Eric.
