the clarion switchout really is easy. If your husband can't do it we might have to take his man card away! :grin:

I think if you upgraded from the xmd1 to the xmd3 the remote still works. It isn't until you get to the cmd4/5 that the remotes are fully compatible. The xmd3 has the same hole mounts as the xmd1.

I won't even mention there is a hack to tap into the aux in on your xmd1! If your afraid of the connections on the back the hack will give you the heebie jeebies!

Maybe they have a friend with a (very) little bit of electronics experience that could help.
