You will find both as there are several different vendor made parts on the engine so you will need both sets as least that is true of our 3126 sister engine.
Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know for sure about the 3116's? My friend got the deal done on the 40' Sundancer but it's 150 miles away. We're trying to just what we need to get her home. Thanks
Caterpillar is purely American so most fasteners on the engine are SAE, however, the 3116 is are just as John says on the 3126's. Some vendor supplied components are metric, plus the transmissions are ZF which is metric. Unless you know specifically which component you will need to work on, then you need both SAE and metric tools.
