You weren't the only one facing that dilemma. They wanted you to think you were on an island by yourself. There are many in your same situation asking themselves if they're strong enough to fight back. I suspect some of us will initially be fired, but the Constitution will prevail in the long run. If not, my country is worth the relatively small sacrifice. Huge in my and my family's world, but not in the bigger picture.I worked in a steel mill and got hurt and had to change careers at 35 years old. Went back to school nd earned a B.S. degree and graduated at 40. In the process burned through my retirement just paying daily expenses. I'm making great money now and am finally building my 401k again but taking a pay cut will put a stop to that. So that is the dilemma I was in. Either leave my current job, where I know I will never make this much again, and work the rest of my life, literally, or get the shot and hope to retire someday.
Your story isn't far off of mine believe it or not. I'm sorry you felt you had no choice and wish you the best of luck.
