Those those of you who have been following my bouy mishap, here is a snap (if I attached it correctly) of my beauty languishing on the rocks!

Interestingly, I just got an email back from him after I let him know that I would appreciate some small gesture on his part. He told me that he would put the mooring back together for me so I could enjoy the rest of the season. Of course, I had already told him that I was done for the year and I will tell him in a note in a moment that him offering to fix his busted equipment is hardly going out of his way. I paid him $550 for the season and at the very least he is contracted to provide me that. I am starting to get a little angry at this guy. The insurance adjuster will show up next week. The damage that I see at this point is a 8 inch gouge on the bottom for the boat that has exposed the fibers in the fiberglass, there are some pretty heavy scratches on what had been a pristine navy blue hull and of course, the unseen damage to hard drives that held up a 9k plus boat for probably 12 hours... that is where it will probably get expensive. Thank you guys for your wishes and I'll keep you all informed!

Ask the mooring owner to refund the unused portion of the rent to you for your lost use.

Also, insurance adjustors don't like to pay claims so your biggest leverage may be to explain the broken mooring to the adjustor, ask him to fix your boat and just say "This is how you can get your $ back". Could be they'll sue the mooring owner.

I am a bit nauseous just seeing that pic. Good luck and hopefully the drives are not to badly damaged.

It's an unfortunate incident, but tha's why you have insurance. Deal with your insurance company, and let them worry about dealing with the owner of the mooring.
