Looks like we may actually have a few days of sunshine this weekend. What's going on for the holiday weekend in the upper bay? The typical Fairlee Creek stop? Hanging out at the harbor? Chestertown does their annual re-enactment of the Boston Tea Party. Let's hear your plans.

Between mother's day and a few birthdays along with crappy weather I haven't been on the water since May 4th.
Needless to say I'm stoked about the forecast and now trying to plan the weekend to get the most out of it.

Probably Fairlee on Sunday, if not Saturday.
Will definately burn some fossil fuels all weekend though.:smt038

Stan-
Looks like we'll be heading to the over-priced Hyatt and see if we can minimize the damage caused by the aggressive dockhands!

We are heading from Quantico to Port Kinsale to link up with Full Circle Saturday morning....the downside to boating right now is that there is a tremendous amount of debris in the Potomac from the recent storms. We spent last weekend in Old Town Alexandria, and it took me four hours to get home, runnning at 7-8 knots on Sunday; entire trees and some fairly large logs and stumps were floating in the river. I also saw a tire and rim, and a propane tank off of somebody's BBQ all floating in the channel. The debris around Mt. Vernon was so bad that I reported it to the USCG Baltimore Sector, who in turn issued an "Urgent Marine Safety Broadcast" on VHF Channel 22A.

The river was a bit cleaner on the run up Saturday-we ran at planing speed most of the way.

We have short hauled once this year after a debris impact knocked the stbd prop loose.

I am now beyond cautious when I see stuff in the river. It may be a really slow trip south on Saturday...and I may take my spare props aboard just in case. 30-31 May we are at National Harbor to celebrate my 29th birthday for the 15th time....
regards
Skip

I'll be working on my boat all weekend trying to get it ready for the summer... it gets hauled out on Tuesday for a bottom job and hull polish.

I'm a little behind getting the boat ready this year because of my drug problem...

We will head south from DC to Colonial Beach Saturday, overnight and head back. Need to stretch my sea legs and get prepared for BiH. Hopefully alot of that gunk will float south fast.

Congrats Skip on making another year!

Hi Stan, beautiful 48 by the way.

We have family and friends coming to the marina this weekend, for some reason everyone wants to see the 420. We plan to go out for a raft up and maybe an overnight on the hook at Cacaway Island on the Langford River, but don’t tell too many people as this is our secret spot.

Also will make a run to St Michaels for the day and have been invited to raft up with some others at Chestertown. Now if we can only find some affordable diesel.

What? You guys aren't working on your boats?

I don't even want to hear your bitching about not being on the water since May 4th, I on the other hand.... haven't been on the water at all, not even since last year.....OMG its Freaking cold here in Michigan.. but it's suppose to warm up for the Memorial weekend.... Isn't that Special...?

We have friends coming along with us to the Calvert Marine Museum for the Saturday evening concert. If things look right we'll play on the water both ways. If not, we'll find plenty to do in Solomons. Tiki Bar is open, right?

my wife accepted an invite to a stupid bbq about 40 miles north of my house and 70 miles north of the boat, on saturday!:smt013:smt013:smt013

that leaves friday for the shakedown cruise and sunday and monday for i dont know what. any other barnegat bay people have plans?

Boltman, I am feeling your pain also. It is cold here too still. I am trying to launch this weekend. It is supposed to warm up, so I will be cleaning, polishing, and waxing. Its supposed to be in the 30's tonight. Its just not fair !!!!

We will be going down to Solomon's for the weekend with our marina-mates.

BTW - was out for the Blue Angels today and met Overextended in Ego Alley. Fantastic Boat!

....... any other barnegat bay people have plans?

Only plans so far are to be out on the water.....

My Home owners community has a "blessing of the fleet" on Sunday afternoon. After that a neighborhood BBQ...

I'm planning to head over to Tices, the "spot" or down the T.R....may even spend the night on the hook...

Maybe a stop at the Water's Edge for aftenoon cocktails on Monday too....

hopefully putting in at bohemia river saturday then spending the night on the hook

Stan - nice boat! I was in Fairlee Creek (Jellyfish Joel's is open whohooo!) last weekend and there was a beautiful 48 anchored out. Looked brand new and had a nice jet ski on the lift.

We're heading to Solomon's this weekend. Going to most likely anchor out somewhere on the Little Choptank on Friday night, shoot over to Calvert Marina in Solomons Saturday, and anchor back out somewhere else on the Little Choptank on our way home.

Now the only problem is talking the better half into heading down to the boat Thursday evening ;P

This year we have a very late start since there are number of extra prep work to be done for our 320. So far the plan is to finish polish/wax and finally get it in water, and get to know our new slip. If all goes well we'll try to spend a night or two on the boat and finish cleaning and setting things up for the summer. At this point any cruising plans would depend on how the prep work is progressing.

Alex.

Good stuff from all! The anticipation is certainly high for this weekened. Glory Daze will head over to Fairlee Creek sometime Friday to hook up with the usual bunch. If all goes well tomorrow and Thursday, we'll launch a new dinghy this weekend, as well.

Anyone in Fairlee - feel free to look us up.

Thanks to all for the compliments and Jim, congrats on the 420. Looks great. Gary, can't you switch to those drugs that enable you to do 12 hours of work in like 45 minutes? Kinda like that Comcast super fast stuff!!
