Does anyone have a mooring cover that you use while slipping your boat?

I have an 18 Monterey, and I had a custom cover made for it. It covers the entire boat in one piece, including the folding arch, to a point below the rub rail, but does not cover the swim platform. I did it this way so I could stand on the swim platform while attaching the cover. It works great, and we have it to help prevent oxidation on the exposed part above the rub rail that typically isn't covered by a cockpit cover.

In looking at a new SDX 290, the dealer doesn't really want to sell me a mooring cover because he says it's too hard to put it on while the boat is in the water. Anyone have experience with this? Does it fasten on the side or on the transom under the swim platform?

We use a moving cover in our slip. but we stern in. I start at the bow, roll it back, and wrap over the swim platform. a single strap going under the platform helps with windy days. We made 12 5-pound sandbags, they club on suing buckles where the stars would go if the cover was on the trailer. As long as you could reach both sides of the boat from your dock, it is easy. The whole process takes me less then 5 minutes to cover, or uncover, the boat. even faster if someone is there to help.

I have the new sdx 270, so effectively the same boat just smaller. I purchased the factory mooring cover, and it ABSOLUTELY can be put on while in the water at a slip. I do it at the end of every weekend. Is it as fast as snapping on my bow and cockpit cover, no, but I can have the mooring cover on in 5 minutes or less. It is water tight and keeps from the rub rail up clean and streak free and no oxidation. Work from the bow to the stern, hook it around one corner of the platform, then from the dock hook it around the other end of the platform. There is a ratchet strap in a zippered pocket on both sides, so whichever you have access to, unzip, ratchet tight, zip up and done.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank you all! Just for grins, here's a pic of the cover I use on my current boat - under the rub rail, but not over the platform. It works great... and I wish SR made something like this. But, I guess if I want that kind, I'll have to go custom again.

Is this the Sea Ray cover?
