— A Vernon Doctor is accused of writing prescriptions to someone who was not a patient, Oneida City police said Friday. Dr. Muftah A. Kadura, 56, of Hawthorne Drive, was charged with criminal sale of a prescription controlled substance, fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, first-degree falsifying business records, all felonies, and obtaining a controlled substance through fraud or deceit, a misdemeanor, police said.
Officials said Kadura prescribed a controlled substance to a person who was not his patient and falsely signed the person’s name to the pharmacy log.
He was arraigned and committed to Madison County jail on $5,000 cash or bond. Kadura is scheduled to appear again on Friday, Oct. 14, police said.
The state Department of Health, Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement investigated this case with the assistance of the city police department. :wow: .
