My SeaDek Has Arrived!

I think the gunwales might look ok when the boat is uncovered. Having the cover partially draped over the rest of the boat doesn't really allow us to get the actual look of the boat and the product as it would normally be seen.

Its kinda like lookin' at a woman when she only has half of her makeup on and her hair up in curlers. If you didn't already know she was gonna look hot in the end, you might go bolting out the front door like your hair was on fire.

Okay dude ... you are a Wordsmith and have convinced me to tape them on securely and take the cover off later and take gobs of pics to see what it REALLY looks like. It's tough messin' with the looks of your mistress!

Thanks for the laugh.

You have a hard time pulling your 230 out of the water? Why is that?

How much did all of it set ya back?

I like it on the rear but would need to see the gunwhales fully to give opinion on that part.

The hard time is that the ramp for my marina is a half mile away or longer. By myself, there is no way to get my truck and trailer and the boat to the ramp by myself. I need a driver for the truck/trailer so I can meet at the ramp to pull it out.

For the faux teak and the custom pads for the platform, 2 sets of steps and the gunwales, it was just over $500. Well worth it in my opinion.

Turns out the platform pad came back to me too narrow. Something I couldn't tell the other day when I was checking it and it was rolled. My reach wasn't wide enough to hold both ends down. I have a call into SeaDek and am waiting to hear back from them today. I traced the platform with some clear material and a Sharpie, so I'm at a loss on how I could have mis-traced it. My 5 year old can trace, I beleive I can too!

So for now, I only have the platform steps installed as of last night. The were a tad too short too, but not enough of the non-skid showed to make it a show stopper for me. I want the entire non-skid to be covered so it looks like it's part of the boat and not after market.

More to come.

A quick update.

The people at SeaDek are quite remarkable and a pleasure to work with. We swapped pictures of my boat with the narrow padding, the templates they drew and cut, and a video. In the end they are re-cutting everything 1/8 inch larger on all sides and shipping to me at NO COST.

I can't believe it either. I offered 2 times to pay some of the costs and they declined. I should have the new re-cut pads this week. I will pull the boat, remove the swim step pads once I get the new pads in and verify size, install all the new pads and take before and after pics and post them here.

More to come....

Let's get up to date here.

My RECUT SeaDek will FINALLY arrive today. When the people there said they would recut it 1/8 of an inch larger for a proper fit and ship it to me at no cost, what they really meant to say was, "You ordered and paid in full for this in early April, we cut it too narrow and missed some corners, so we'll recut it and ship at no charge, but we are going to take our time and have the SeaDek to you by the END OF JUNE".

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they worked with me and reworked the project and sent it back out. But the reality is this, I ordered and paid in FULL in early April, got my project back in late May. It was wrong. They agreed to make it right. It's now another month later. It just SUCKS that I had to wait another month and get back in line in production for the correct SeaDek to be made and shipped. I really feel I should have been put first instead of waiting another length of production time. Especially for the near $600 this cost and only leaving me (in reality) 2 months to use it now.

<off soapbox>

With that said, the boat is out and getting 4 blue underwater lights installed this week and the correct SeaDek finally arrives today. I will get some before and after pictures posted when I do the install on Thursday.

I know this is last year's thread, but I would like to see some pictures if you have them. I love the idea, and saw a lot of new boats at the boat show with them.

Also, how would this work with the swim platform vents?

I will look for some pictures Charlie. If I can't find them, I am cutting the wrap next week, so I will take some then.

As for the vents, you create the template from which the pads will be made with a kit they send you. You can just trace around the vents if you wish and have cut-outs for them.

I get nothing but compliments on my SeaDek and would do it again.

OK stupid question here with this new upgrade web look. How can you tell the date the post and replies were done? It appears the upgrade took that away.

Hey Ron, if you were a little farther south I would have gone for the camo look! :)

You don't see the date on the left side of the orange bar on each post??? Same as the old format.

Could you let us know what that cost all shipped, ready to install was... I think its going to look great on there!

Anybody consider ordering a sheet and cutting it yourself? It's only $140. Do you think it would look decent without the finished edges?

BTW, I contacted Seadek and told them that a few CSR members were interested and asked if they would do a promo with us. The answer was NO.

It would depend on the type of material you ordered. The Faux Teak would look funny not finished.

I actually saw a big Maxxum cruiser for sale where it looked like the PO had done just that. It looked like total crap. The initial look was great "Hey! Teak!", but after a slightly closer look it was an ugly girl with bad makeup saved by dim lighting and beer (carrying forward a previous metaphor). The unfinished edges were glaringly bad.

:wow:

That shocks me that they would say no.:wow:...in this economy and as few boaters affording the boating lifestyle, it amazes me that they did not jump on your offer, on the other hand they have enough business:huh:

This thread has inspired me to have Sea Dek make some pads for me. I am going with the faux teak, titanium color. Hopefully everything will turn out ok. I talked to Joe at Sea Dek and he tells me they are swampped with orders, but alot of them are folks fishing for estimates.

Rono007 did you ever come up with some pics to post?
