Well, I went to go check on my girlfriend (boat of course) opened the cabin door and saw 20 gallons of water standing in floor. I know it was 20, because that's how many times I emptied the wet vac.

I was out of town for the week and thought maybe I blew a water feed hose. I checked the weather and we never got below 40 degrees last week.

It appears that the water came from the shower drain sump area. There was water outside the drain box and it clearly drained from there down to the floor.

I have tried to duplicate this by running water from all the spicots and in the shower and everything seems to be fine. There are no other wet spots, i.e. under sinks, shower was dry, around fridge. I looked at the schematics and it doesn't appear that there are any chraged water lines running through or into the shower sump area, just drain lines.

Either 1. Someone is screwing with me or 2. I am missing something.

The boat sits in a covered storage and there was no water in the cockpit as well.

Sorry no pics. Tried to dial down the file size, but I can't get that figured out as well..least of my problems.

Completely under cover? No way water could get on the port lights... especially the head window? If there's a leak there, it'll run down the inside, between the hull and the shower liner and show up under your step, by the sump.

I am certainly no mechanical genius...but doesn't your boat hold 20 gallons of fresh water (fresh water tank)?

Coincidence?

28 ti be exact. Just figured out tank is under the bow seats. Taking a look now.

I like the way you think Nick, but who would put their boat away for the winter with a full tank of water?? Hopefully, your suggestion will solve his problem though. :smt038

Hey Medic,

Water tank... I bet I don't even need to say anything. :smt001

Yep, was the tank. Thanks. I boat all year around as I live in S.C. I do typically drain the tank when I am not on the water, but I had to leave town last week on short notice for this thing called a job. That's "who" leaves their tank full of water during the winter. Appreciate the help people and I understand the ribbing, but hey, we all make mistakes and adding insult to $$$ doesn't seem to be the spirit of the site.

Happy Holiday's!!

It wasn't my intention to insult you Medic. I just had to ask the question. I apologize for not reading closer to better ascertain your geographic location. We are currently freezing our butts off up here and leaving one's water tank full of water in the winter automatically sent up a red flag with me. As you are well aware, we cannot leave a drop of water on our boats up here in the winter. Glad that you found your problem. Just exactly what happened to drain your tank.:thumbsup:

Medic, don't take what I said too seriously, either. Jokes are hard to get across when you only have words. I'm even looking back at what I wrote and it doesn't make sense...:smt101

Glad you found it, though.

Like mentioned above, did you figure out why?

I think I read in the 240DA thread about the water line connection coming loose.

Nobody is gunning for you here Medic. You had a problem, you threw it up in the air and you were given good advice. Be glad that it was a cheap fix, say thank you and move on.

FYI: You will have to have tougher skin if you expect to make it out of here this winter unscathed. This is nothing ... just wait for cabin fever to set in a few months down the road. Lighten up man and have fun!! :smt043:lol:

That is the problem with chat rooms/message boards. Inflection is lost and not knowing a person personally,,,,,, they sometimes come off as a Arss or a jerk. I have a very dry British sense of humor, on more than once it's got me in a pickle. But they who know me crack up all day at my lighthearted sarcasm. So, just roll with it. Very rare is there a butt in a place like this that will last more than 10 post.

Glad you found the problem and Glad you got it taken care of...

I love this planet you earthlings call Earth and this site is pretty darn cool too!

Right on guys. Sorry, I was a little aggrevated, I can take a joke, was just thinking I was going to drop some money for a new tank and wasn't happy about it. This is after spending an hour or so removing the nasty carpet and getting at the tank. MY BAD!!

So, here is what happened. The connection from the tank to the feed hose cracked. The inner thread from the tank feed connection cracked inside the hose fastener.

Just replaced the connection $12.00. Yes, I did fill the tank full of water to make sure there were no other leaks.

So, the new connection is curing happily in the mud room and I have a heater running in the cabin on the floor and I should be dried up and ready to install the new carpeting tomorrow.

No mold as I did catch it early. First pic is a shot of the tank as a whole if anyone was curious as to what it looks like and the 2nd is a photo of the new connection.

Sorry about getting miffed, wasn't in the mood for a new tank.

It's just your boats way of payback for even considering the thought of hanging yamaha's off the back...

Yeah right!! Sometimes we all get crazy ideas. I did like the hot tub suggestion for the engine room however. Why can't I get a laser guided missle launcher installed on my pet dolphin anyway!!??

I feel for you..I will be out on the water and you guys will be shoveling the snow. I'll tell you what..feel free to come on down to Charleston in say early feb. and I would be happy to take you out for the day. I'll even buy the gas!

Very good, appreciate the "come back to earth." The offer is good for Chas. by the way, wasn't being a smart @$$.

I wonder why Sea Ray put those tanks in the bow to begin with? 2005 seems to be the only year they did that on the newer 260DA. My water tank is in the engine compartment.

Where do they put the "manifold" that splits up all the water lines to the various locations? Is that also in the bow? I only ask because of the tendency for these manifold connections to leak as well (at least they did on my boat). http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6463&highlight=barb

They probably put the tank in the bow for weight and balance considerations.

This would reduce the weight in the stern and/or free up the engine compartment for some other peice of gear they were trying to squeeze in.

It would also allow them to keep a variable weight on the centerline of the boat.

As to the wisdom of this decision.....
